The position During your internship, you will support our efforts in stem cell cultivation and differentiation. We will provide you with a tailored onboarding program where you will first learn to culture and differentiate human pluripotent stem cells in adherent and suspension cultures. You will participate in the daily work in the laboratory and interact with both technicians and scientists.
As part of the position, you will take part in organizing and maintaining laboratory consumables and equipment including stock up of labs. In collaboration with department members, you will be involved in planning, executing, and evaluating experiments aiming to improve our differentiation protocols toward cardiomyocytes. Analytical methods in the research organization include flow cytometric assays, single-cell expression analyses, histology, and various molecular assays.
Practicalities: Internship period: 6 months (possibility to prolong for 6 additional months) Working hours: up to 37 hours per week (with flexible within your exam period) Start date: November 2023 or soon thereafter Location: Måløv, Denmark Internships are remunerated if your educational track allows A Danish full-time work permit is required Students must be enrolled at a university through the entire internship period. The working hours are flexible up to 37 hours a week enabling you to combine an internship with lectures at university, project work, or writing your Bachelor/Master’s thesis.
Qualifications
You are an excellent student who is currently enrolled in your Master’s degree in Cell Biology, Human Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a similar field of study
To succeed in this role, you have: Good understanding of cell signalling processes and molecular biology in general Ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel (with supervision) and have sound personal judgment to make decisions during your daily work Well-structured and diligent approach at work Outgoing personality with a strong personal drive and dedication Fluency and willingness to communicate in English Preference (nice to have): Hands-on experience with one or more of the following methods: cell culture of mammalian cells and specifically pluripotent stem cells, suspension cell culture, RNA/DNA purification, data analysis, and interpretation We are looking for an intern who is passionate about stem cell biology and molecular assays who can thrive in an innovative environment and bring a can-do attitude. You have a strong work ethic, be a good team player and willing to take responsibility for your own projects and progress. About the department
