The Global Payroll organisation is one of the key pillars of our PPO team.

The opportunity

This is a unique opportunity for someone wanting to experience true global leadership and transformation. We are looking for a new Global Head of Payroll to lead a great team of more than 150+ payroll professionals in more than 130 countries. The role is based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

In this role your purpose is to ensure high-quality and timely payroll in one of the most global organisations you can work for. A fantastic group of peers will collaborate with you to truly transform the way we deliver People services, including payroll, to a growing and quickly transforming organisation of more than 100K employees. You will also have the unique opportunity to shape future Payroll vendor strategy as the next stage of the People function transformation.

What your impact will be:

• Overall responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of payroll delivery, issue resolution and employee experience in the T&A and Payroll areas
• Lead, engage and inspire a highly qualified team of payroll professionals
• Direct and oversee payroll operations for Maersk’s 80,000 + employees spread across 130 countries. Manage and apply resources to payroll operations guided by experience, organizational goals, and operational strategies for multi-country payroll
• Manage complex payroll related matters where analysis of issues, data and process require advanced specialist knowledge and technical knowledge.
• Manage existing payroll & T&A vendors and lead vendor management strategy in the payroll and Time & attendance (T&A) areas
• Embed risk management and compliance in payroll delivery. Periodically validate the risk model in consultation with relevant stakeholders, to identify, report, mitigate and track risks in the payroll delivery process.
• Consistently and proactively drive a strong data-based governance in payroll processes
• Actively drive and/or participate as SME in relevant global projects in the payroll area, closely collaborating with Technology and other stakeholders in the People function.

What we are looking for:

• You are a senior payroll professional with proven experience in successfully managing multi-country payrolls in complex matrix organisations
• You are an engaging and approachable leader who knows that delivering great quality starts with having engaged and empowered teams
• You are calm and effective in stressful situations and demonstrate absolute integrity when handling sensitive and confidential information
• You have excellent problem-solving skills. You are an excellent communicator, capable of explaining complex payroll related topics in simple, effective ways to all levels of the organisation
• You combine strategic thinking with an ability to understand technical details and are able to “soar and swoop” depending on the task at hand
• You are comfortable navigating complex matrix organisations and build strong relationships with all kinds of stakeholders within and outside your function
• You understand the link between payroll and other enterprise areas and have experience driving end-to-end process mindset and continuous improvement within your domain
• You have proven payroll and accounting skills
