About the department
Global Prevention and Health Promotion (GPHP) is part of Global Public Affairs and Sustainability (GPAS) in Commercial Strategy & Corporate Affairs. The GPAS mission is to foster trust in Novo Nordisk by leading responsible business practices and building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
GPHP is responsible for driving Novo Nordisk’s global efforts within prevention and health promotion as part of Defeat Diabetes - the newly launched strategy for social responsibility. By implementing this strategy Novo Nordisk will be able to demonstrate its societal contribution to bending the curve on diabetes, alongside the efforts to develop new, innovative therapies and make them accessible and affordable.
In GPHP, we are the global anchor for the Cities Changing Diabetes Programme, now present in more than 25 cities the world over. We also manage the global partnership with UNICEF on prevention of childhood obesity, and several other global partnerships to explore the interlinkages between health, food and climate.
We want to be known for being creative and innovative in finding and scaling new, effective models for prevention in partnership with the public sector, civil society, academia and international organisations. We are a diverse team of 12 people with strong experience in building partnerships with stakeholders and expertise in public health, innovation, economics, business, anthropology and urban planning.
The position
As Prevention and Health Promotion Lead in GPHP, you will play an important part in the roll out of the new Defeat Diabetes Social Responsibility Strategy. The position is critical to deliver on the wish to find, pilot and scale effective business models for prevention and health promotion. Over the coming years the ambition is to identify and test at many pilots within the field of prevention and public health, and to bring the most successful ones to scale.
You will contribute to this by combining your understanding of public health, behavioural science, nudging, data analysis and digital platforms to drive behavioural change.
You will be responsible for (1) managing the ideation process for identification of prevention pilots, (2) for developing and driving key pilot projects in partnership with relevant internal and external stakeholders, and (3) for leading global advocacy platforms and partnerships for prevention.
You will do this in a cross-functional fashion with other team members, with external partners, other departments in Novo Nordisk, and with Novo Nordisk affiliates around the world. You will also represent GPHP and Novo Nordisk on internal and external platforms, including in conferences and on social media.
The position will give you the chance to work in a team that truly believes that health must be found in all policies, and that prevention and health promotion is essential for improving the quality of life for people around the world. This requires the passion to challenge conventional thinking, but also the diplomatic skills to bring all the relevant stakeholders around a common purpose.
Qualifications
You hold a Master´s degree in public health, behavioural science, political sciences, economics or related disciplines.
You have at least 8 years of relevant experience from industry, government, or civil society in developing and managing complex projects requiring a strong business understanding and a high degree of political sensitivity. You have extensive experience managing public health programmes and cross-sectoral partnerships in different geographic and cultural contexts. You have advanced knowledge of non-communicable diseases, including diabetes and obesity, their risk factors and social determinants. And you have advanced knowledge of behavioural science, nudging, data analysis and digital platforms to drive behavioural change
You are analytical, structured and process oriented. You are comfortable working, both as part of a team and independently with responsibility for your own tasks and demonstrate flexibility when issues arise. You have excellent interpersonal skills, a professional mindset and show personal impact that is reflected in your desire to take initiative. Your stakeholder management skills are above and beyond which is critical to succeed in this position.
Effective communication and presentation skills are required and an excellent command of written and spoken English with the ability to communicate complex matters in a simple and compelling way.
