The position

As a Senior Manager you will be responsible for ensuring Novo Nordisk is on the frontier within virtual development, robust engineering design, and environmental friendly circular product design. You will be leading a team of highly skilled specialists, each contributing with unique skills into the portfolio of device innovation projects to ensure high quality and robustness of solutions. You will be leading digitalisation efforts within device modelling, simulations and optimisations within engineering design, driving implementation of state of the art digital tools. Further, you will support identification, evaluation and introduction of new materials, to ensure new innovation opportunities are pursued, balancing requirements for product performance, large volume manufacturability, and environmental friendliness. Besides product innovation, a high level of process and technology innovation is required to continuously improve how we work.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Measuring the robustness level of device designs, communicating this to relevant stakeholders, and engaging with projects to improve it,
  • Setting strategic direction and executing on the virtual development aspiration, driving implementations of new digital tools for simulations and modelling,
  • Environmental assessment of device designs and for defining ways of obtaining circular device designs,
  • Selecting materials in early device projects and scouting innovative materials for future devices,
  • Developing relevant academic and industrial partnerships within robust design, virtual development and circular product design,
  • Stakeholder alignment with other company’s departments,
  • People leadership in the department,
  • Managing budget for own department,
  • You will be a member of a Device R&D management team.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you need to have:

  • Min. 5 years of relevant experience with engineering,
  • MSc or PhD degree within mechanical or electrical engineering or another relevant technical area,
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as people manager and/or project manager,
  • Experience in development of medical devices or experience in another high quality/robustness/reliability focused sector e.g. defense, aerospace or automotive industry,
  • Good communication skills, ability to inspire and motivate others,
  • Interest in and motivation to create innovation and value for all stakeholders and patients,
  • Ability to set direction and drive performance - ensuring high quality at the right time,
  • Motivation and ability to make a difference in a management team.

About the department

The team is responsible for developing robust and reliable device concepts. More specifically, the department delivers structural, kinematic, tolerance, and injection moulding analyses and drives material selections, using a combination of deep expertise, custom made tools and commercial software such as 3DExperience/Abaqus, Moldflow and COMSOL. Furthermore, as part of the overall digitalisation strategy, the department is developing a fully virtual test lab. Finally, the department plays a key role in defining how to develop devices with zero environmental impact.

You will join a dynamic environment, where 12 highly specialised engineers and 5 Ph.D./Master’s students works in close collaboration with the research and development projects.
