The Head of Strategy Development is responsible for defining and driving the overall strategic direction, by setting the roadmap and identifying our key c-suite priorities, the threats/challenges we need to prepare for and our business opportunities.
You are expected to develop recommendations, based on a strong analytical foundation and decision-making insights, that will form and define our strategic priorities, which you will steer until it is ready to be implemented.
Your ability to establish strong and trusting relationships with senior stakeholders are crucial for success in this role.
In your capacity as Head of Strategy Development you are expected to bring a strong analytical mindset and an ability to lead teams to solutions through structured problem solving, challenging yourself and others to think ahead, understand future opportunities and challenges, and develop innovative solutions. This is fundamental in order to be a true thought leader that provides insight and partners up with our c-suite to make bold decisions on our priorities and contribute to shape the future direction of Maersk.

You are responsible for creating material to support decisions on a wide array of strategic questions, including the annual review of the corporate strategy for executive management and the Board of A.P. Moller-Maersk.
Key tasks:
• Lead team to deliver strong results on strategic projects
• Develop high potential individuals as future talents for the company
• Run annual strategy review process for Executive Board and towards Board of Directors
• Develop decision support material for key strategic topics involving problem definition, analysis of situation, evaluation of options and recommendation
• Act as trusted and challenging partner on strategic decisions and projects (e.g. as part of steering committee)
• Create and drive innovative and thoughtful strategic solutions
• Facilitate strategy workshops with senior management
• Run large strategic projects towards senior stakeholders
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree with outstanding academic results in a numbers-driven field such as Finance, Economics, or Engineering combined with several years of relevant work experience (management consulting or other analytical roles) – where you have identified and evaluated fundamental strategic options and choices and created buy in from senior stakeholders.
You have several years experience in strategy development from either corporate strategy role, strategy consulting, or similar as well as industry understanding in terms of the dynamics and Maersk’s strategic ambition.
Furthermore you:
• Preferably have experience as team/people manager
• Have outstanding analytical skills and structured way of working
You approach your work with curiosity; through valuing people and believe in challenging to drive innovation and results.
You are a true team player, and want to be part of a team that constantly are asking the question why. You are used to collaborate in project teams, bringing thought leadership and can work creatively in a problem-solving environment.
