The Business Platforms organization is at the forefront of developing cutting edge technologies to improve the customer’s experience with personalized and automated end-to-end digital journeys, that enable Maersk customers to access standardized products and services seamlessly. The Platforms help enable Maersk’s vision to be the Global Integrator of container logistics, connecting and simplifying customers’ supply chains. Additionally, the team creates the foundation to integrate data, systems and processes, powered by scalable Digital Infrastructure and APIs.

We are looking for an ambitious Platform Product Owner who understands the opportunities of IoT solutions and build product backlog with business outcome owner that will deliver strong results in terms of safety, customer satisfaction and operational efficiency

Key responsibilities


The Platform Product Owner is responsible for designing, coordinating and managing the development & deployment of innovative platform products along with ensuring developments stay aligned with the platform business and platform technical strategies, and following strict financial top and bottom line targets.

The objective of the PPO role is to engage across various functions in the organization to identify product opportunity which has position ROI and prioritize from the list which has the best outcome and manage stakeholders with delivery and implementation of the product

Responsibilities for this role include:
• Work closely with the Business and SMEs in developing the product roadmap and developing user stories and product’s technical requirements
• Work with platform customers to identify platform’s capability gap for its customer and define technical roadmap and user stories to bridge those gaps. Lead benchmarking initiatives to compare platform capability with industry best-in-class and relentlessly advocate for product excellence.
• Own and actively manage the platform product backlog including clearly defining product backlog items and prioritizing items based on business/internal product goals and optimization of work in the agile team
• Own sprint planning, brain-storming and ideation meetings to refine user stories to provide the engineering team with clear requirements and define KPIs to measure success.
• Act as an SME for business/ internal product teams, providing insight, context and additional information as needed to help understanding of what is required to deliver the value proposition to the customer
• Work cross-functionally to ensure that the agile team plans and utilizes resources effectively and identify hurdles and maximize delivery through agile mechanisms
• Drive or support continuous improvement initiatives related to product ownership and agile processes
• Ensures products being developed and deployed are generating book value for customers
• Promote and advocate platform strategy with all Maersk stakeholder

We are looking for


• Demonstrates a combination of awareness of software engineering concepts with strong experience in agile project management and effective business acumen
• Ability to deliver results in complex environment and relentlessly identifying hurdles and managing resolution through engagement and value based trade-offs with stakeholders along with strong attention to detail
• Passion for energy efficiency and decarbonisation with technical knowledge developed through vessel operations or performance management activities.
• Ability to take ownership of complex and important products, critically evaluate ideas and make effective decisions. Candidate should apply agile project management skills and data analytics for creating user stories and acceptance criteria
• Ability to evaluate strategy, ideas, investments and trade-offs objectively using strong quantitative and analytical skills.
• Ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills aligned with Maersk’s core values
• Must hold an under-graduate degree in Science, Engineering or other technical field or relevant work experience in similar field. A post-graduate degree in business, information technology, engineering is preferred.
• Great communication and interpersonal skills, displaying the ability to connect, build relationships and effectively collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders
• Brings 8+ years of experience working in product development or program management functions.
