Human Resources Director - Europe

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Human Resources Director to lead the Human Resources department based in Copenhagen, a regional position covering Europe. The Human Resources (HR) Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of an organisation's human resources function. Nine human resources managers report to this position. The Human Resources team is assigned to the units. The full human resources team has 55 specialists. Your own human resources team has four employees.

The company works in sales, service, and logistics and has had solid success since 1990. The company is in nine countries in Europe and has a total of 3,500 employees today. A growth rate of 17% has been budgeted for Q3 and Q4 2023.

The everyday work involves a wide range of responsibilities, which include:

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior executives to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the organisation's goals and objectives.
  • Contribute to long-term planning and provide insights on workforce planning, talent management, and organisational development.
  • Create and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations. Establish guidelines for employee behaviour, performance expectations, compensation, benefits, and leave policies.
  • You will play a crucial role in attracting and selecting qualified candidates for open positions. Work closely with hiring managers to develop job descriptions, identify recruitment sources, conduct interviews, and make final hiring decisions.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new employees.
  • Handle employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
  • Promote a positive work environment and ensure fair treatment of employees.
  • Conduct investigations into complaints and provide guidance on resolving workplace issues.
  • Develop and implement performance management systems, including performance appraisals, goal setting, and feedback processes. Work with managers to identify training and development needs and establish performance improvement plans when necessary.
  • Identify training needs within the organisation and coordinate or deliver training programmes to enhance employees' skills and knowledge.
  • Establish career development programmes, mentorship initiatives, and succession planning strategies.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of compensation and benefits programmes, including salary structures, incentive plans, and employee benefits packages.
  • The HR director ensure compliance with legal requirements and industry standards while remaining competitive in attracting and retaining talent.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws, employment regulations, and internal policies. Stay up-to-date with legal changes and communicate them to management and employees.
  • Manage risk assessment processes and develop strategies to mitigate potential HR-related risks.
  • Focus on fostering a positive work culture and increasing employee engagement.
  • Develop and implement initiatives such as employee recognition programmes, wellness initiatives, team-building activities, and internal communication strategies.
  • Oversee administrative functions, including HR record-keeping, data management, and HRIS (Human Resources Information System) maintenance. Ensure accurate and up-to-date employee records, generate reports, and manage HR budgets.

Overall, the HR Director are responsible for aligning the organisation's human resources practices with its strategic goals, promoting a positive work environment, and supporting the overall well-being and development of employees.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or psychology.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in progressively responsible HR roles, including managerial or leadership positions.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of HR principles, practices, laws, and regulations are essential.
  • Expertise in areas such as talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, employment law, and HR strategy.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills to align HR initiatives with organisational goals.
  • Possess excellent leadership and management abilities to oversee HR teams, collaborate with executives, and guide HR initiatives.
  • Be skilled in building and developing high-performing teams, managing change, and effectively communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Get a solid understanding of the organisation's industry, business operations, and financial implications. Be able to align HR practices with the overall business strategy, demonstrate the value of HR initiatives, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential! You must be able to effectively communicate with employees, managers, executives, and external stakeholders.

Offers

  • The position is based in Copenhagen.
  • A company car is provided in the allocated country at a price of DKR 150–500.000. This position also offers paid parking in a parking garage in Copenhagen.
  • All air travel over 5 hours can be made in business class.
  • The position reports directly to the CEO for Europe.
  • The annual salary will be negotiated at around DKR 1.200.000 annually, plus a pension scheme (company-paid pension part of 14%).
  • Working time is formally set at a 37-hour week, excluding travel time, 6 weeks of accrued vacation annually.
