We are looking for an Account Manager based in Denmark to join our Fisher Scientific sales team. As Account Manager, you will sell a wide range of Thermo Fisher Scientific-branded laboratory equipment, consumables, chemicals, safety products/PPE and services to our customers engaged in research and development within Academic institutions (mainly universities and university hospitals).
You will maintain effective customer relations, developing opportunities for growth within the existing customer base, while identifying and growing new business opportunities to achieve your sales and profit targets.
The defined sales territory for this role covers from Copenhagen to Aarhus and you will be required to travel within this territory up to 4 days per week on average, with fairly frequent overnight stays. When not travelling, you will be able to work from home. Ideally, you will be based in Copenhagen, Roskilde or the surrounding areas.
The role sits within our Research and Safety Market Division (RSD), branded as Fisher Scientific, which markets and sells a vast portfolio of laboratory products and services. RSD’s portfolio represents the product lines of Thermo Fisher Scientific and thousands of supplier/manufacturers in the laboratory space and includes Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Academic, Industrial and Government institutions that maintain scientific laboratories and engage in scientific research.
This is an ideal position for a fresh graduate or someone early in their sales career with a target-driven mindset and the desire to work for an industry-leading company. We will provide you with in-depth sales and product training, coupled with extensive career development opportunities in the longer term to enable you to achieve your best – both personally and professionally.
What will you do?
- Work to drive Academic-specific product sales, support supplier partnerships and actively promote core products and value added services
- Maintain effective customer relationships, satisfy customer requirements and assure continued market penetration and profitability by making in depth calls to end user and purchasing contacts
- Use communication and influencing skills to effectively utilize internal resources and maximize selling time
- Achieve or exceed sales and margin targets for your designated territory
- Develop and execute a strategic and tactical sales plan for your specified territory to ensure revenue and gross margin objectives are met
- Manage pricing within territory to optimize profitability
- Establish relationships with key suppliers and negotiate improved terms
- Leverage SalesForce.com to develop the territory pipeline and optimize territory coverage
- Maintain a high level of business knowledge specific to your territory including product portfolio, competitor activity and sales positioning
Who we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science, or equivalent work experience
- Some experience of working in a lab and familiarity with laboratory products, equipment, consumables and processes an advantage (but not essential)
- Sales mindset and strongly target-driven, with genuine desire to work in a sales role (essential)
- Previous sales experience in any environment (strongly preferred)
- Confident personality, strong communication and presentation skills, able to engage with and influence a wide variety of contacts in a range of settings
- Good overall IT skills; familiarity with a CRM such as Salesforce.com would be an advantage
- Organised and good multi-tasker, able to manage and meet multiple competing deadlines
- Driving Licence
- Willing to travel extensively on a weekly basis, including overnights
- Fluent in English & Danish essential
