JOIN BUSINESS LINES INTERNATIONAL´S FINANCE DEPARTMENT
With over 93 offices worldwide, COWI is a leading international consulting group providing clients with innovative and sustainable solutions to complex challenges within transportation, energy, environment, water, industry, buildings and planning.

Joining our International Business Line as Head of Section, Finance, you will play a pivotal role in bringing the Finance Department closer to the business, which will require strong change management and stakeholder relationship skills. You will report to the Senior Vice President Finance (CFO) in COWI International and have a close corporation with the Executive Vice President and the rest of the Line Management team within the Business Line.

COWI International consists of 4 business units: Energy International, Transportation International, UK and NA with 1.400+ employees across 18 countries in Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia and NA. The Finance function consist today of app. 40 people from Business Controller, Projects controllers to accounting/finance staff in the subsidiaries.

SET THE DIRECTION FOR FINANCE DEPARTMENT
The current Head of Controlling has been offered a promotion in our business in Oslo, Norway and will be relocating soon. We are therefore looking for his replacement.

The controlling team has recently undergone organizational changes where the project- and business controlling teams have been merged into one team. As Head of Controlling, Finance, you will be responsible for the continuation of the journey that has been initiated, and set the direction for a team of dedicated and skilful finance business partners.

The Head of Controlling plays an important role in leading the business and leading the team. You will therefore also be expected to be able to lead upwards towards the business line management with the aim of supporting the decision-making process, as well as leading your team.

Your will lead a team in Denmark of 7 employees with direct reference, and 8 employees indirectly who are based in Lithuania. You will be a part of a matrix organization working closely together with other finance functions in COWI and with management in the different business units. Together with the Senior Vice President for COWI International Finance and business unit finance managers, you will be a part of the Finance Leadership team in COWI International.

On a daily basis, you will typically work on the following tasks:

  • Overall responsibility of coordinating and developing the Controlling team (total 15 FTE’s)
  • Develop the Controlling team and define a clear plan with both long-term and short-term goals and expectations. Develop a strong team with high engagement.
  • Be a sparring partner for business line management team
  • Support the business functions with major development initiatives and projects from the financial perspective
  • Financial reporting and forecasting of COWI International Division performance – monthly, quarterly and annually
  • Ensure that the financial management of Business Line International is conducted in compliance with local legal requirements and policies and the rules and policies of the COWI Group
  • Implement new policies in the global organization

Furthermore, you should:

  • Have 10 years of relevant work experience from a Finance function including management experience, preferably from a large international company.
  • Be fluently in English written and spoken.
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Have a commercial mindset – preferably from a project orientated company.
  • Be excellent in stakeholder management & collaboration and should be able to deal with both strategic and operational tasks.
  • The ability to understand and work in a multicultural environment and to gain trust from the people you work with.
  • Be able to coach and lead a group of people who are very strong professionals within their stream.
  • Have work with change management and preferably work with management on distance
