The Research Unit Exercise Epidemiology, Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, invites applications for a full time and a part time position as assistant professor in childhood health and physical activity epidemiology to be filled as soon as possible.
The full-time position is to be filled as soon as possible and until 31 December 2024 and the part time position (18,5 hours a week) as soon as possible and until 30 November 2024.
Job description
The duties of the assistant professorships include research, education, administrative and management tasks.
The Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics has a strong background in sports science with one focus being on physical behavior, physical fitness and health of young people. The two assistant professor positions will be based at the research center Research in Childhood Health and the Research Unit for Exercise Epidemiology.
Expectations of qualifications
The applicants will be expected to demonstrate highly profiled and well-documented research experience related to the fields of physical activity, sedentary behavior and health promotion and prevention.
It will be expected that the applicants have experience with designing and conducting observational and experimental studies within these fields. Relevant research experience in child and adolescence populations will be considered as a priority.
Both assistant professors will take part in ongoing research projects, in particular the Screen-Free-Time with Friends project funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and the SCREENS project funded by the European Research Council (ERC).
The positions are primarily focused on research but also involves lecturing at the bachelor, master and PhD levels (e.g. applied physiology).
Applicants must show documented teaching and supervising experience at all graduate levels.
The applicants must have a PhD degree and be able to show documented research work (i.e. peer-reviewed papers, conference presentations) that complies with the research profile described above and good communication skills for scientific and non-scientific audience.
Administrative and other skills that are relevant to subject specialization and the tasks of the position will be expected.

Danish is not required initially however, must be mastered within the first two years of employment. In cooperation with the language centre “Lærdansk”, SDU offers specialized language courses.
