Power Solutions Plant & Hybrid Solutions Electrical BoP & Hybrid Electrical Infrastructure

In Electrical BoP & Hybrid, we span across being in very close interaction with the market as well as being involved in various innovation activities with external collaborators while focusing on product development as our main objective. The core outputs within Electrical BoP & Hybrid are specification and generic design of the electrical infrastructure of Vestas renewable power plants, the Vestas Power Plant Controller and electrical simulation models of wind turbines, utilizing the department's core competencies within Power System-, Control- and SW- Engineering. Electrical Infrastructure is a department within Electrical BoP & Hybrid and we focus mainly on the specification and generic design of the electrical infrastructure.

Responsbilities

As Electrical Substation Design Engineer your main responsibility will be development of projects of innovative design and technologies for Vestas Power Plants. The responsibility will include:

  • Responsible for specification and qualification of electrical balance of plant components and modules.
  • Electrical Infrastructure representative in Vestas development of standard Technical Procurement Specifications (TPS) for main components such as Medium Voltage (MV) shunt reactors/capacitors, STATCOMs, Synchronous Condensers, PV-Systems and Battery/storage systems.
  • Participate in planning and designing Power Plant Electrical Infrastructure (PPEI) systems for hybrid Vestas Power Plants (VPP) optimal in respect of standardization, minimal losses and Bill of Material (BoM) costs.
  • Responsible for development of tools and guidelines for eBoP design inclusive of requirement specifications and design descriptions based on selected showcase hybrid VPPs and major Grid Codes.
  • Responsible for receiving and handling special eBoP requests from Vestas regional business units.

Qualifications

  • M.Sc.EE or B.Sc.EE (High Voltage, power systems and/or substation design).
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience.
  • You have a proven track record in planning and designing eBoP systems for combined power plants.
  • You have detailed knowledge of major power plant components for eBoP such as transformers, cables, switchgear, power circuit breakers, surge arresters, shunt reactors, shunt capacitors, STATCOMs, and are experienced within electrical integration of renewable power generation and grid codes.
  • You have the desire and the ability to understand and maintain overview of a wide range of advanced technical domains within grid integration of renewable power plants like ancillary services, main circuit design, protection, HVDC, eBoP equipment.
  • User knowledge on power system steady state, dynamic analysis, and simulation model development (PowerFactory).
  • You may have worked with Grid operators, Power generators, Utilities, Grid consulting companies, Transmission- or Distribution companies etc.
