Research & Development (R&D) Engineer - Structural Health Monitoring, Risk-informed Reliability, Big Data Technology & Machine Learning

You will be a part of a highly skilled team, who is working with R&D of Ramboll’s True Digital Twin technology combining Structural Health Monitoring Systems (SHMS) with novel Big Data Technologies, all in a probabilistic framework.
Your role will primarily be to participate in the research and development (R&D), however, some project related tasks must be expected. To succeed in this role you must have knowledge of structural engineering and data analysis and have a proactive and global mindset. You will join our Offshore Structures department
As our new R&D Engineer, you will be part of a specialized team of 7-8 people located in Esbjerg in a global department of more than 65 employees. The team works with innovative technologies like advanced structural analysis, Big Data Technologies, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Structural Risk-informed Reliability methods and future novel technologies.
The projects you will be working on are executed from the office and will often involve multiple specialists in different fields. We work for global customers and are often providing cutting-edge solutions to our customers; hence, the R&D is focused on solving the clients' pain. In the team, we believe in empowerment and being proactive and communicative. - Assist in the development of new tools for data-driven structural integrity management and decision making
- Perform R&D of new methods for advanced structural analysis in a probabilistic framework
- Perform R&D of big data analytics with the purpose of e.g. damage detection
- Assist in programming/coding of new software in different programming languages

- PhD in Structural or Mechanical Engineering, preferably with some years of experience
- Experience with structural FEM analysis, fatigue analysis, environmental loading, Structural Risk-based Reliability and Structural Risk-informed Reliability methods
- Experience with vibration measurements, signal processing and SHMS
- Experience with linear and non-linear Operational Modal Analysis (OMA), modal- and Ritz-based expansion for stress recovery (virtual sensing), environment load identification/calibration, Bayesian-based FEM updating and quantification of uncertainties (CoV, Bias)
- Experience with Big Data Technologies, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science and Cloud computing
- Experience with damage detection based on big data classification and clustering (Gaussian Mixture Models) and structured learning methods
- Experience with software coding (MATLAB, Python, C++, Java)
- Excited about working with innovative technologies and have a great passion to deliver high-quality results
- Good communication skills in English, both oral and written
