Are you keen to help us build a medical team responsible for conducting innovative early-phase clinical trials with high flexibility and short turnaround times? Do you have a scientific curiosity to be part of the human-centric explorative science field?
Then read more as it might be the right opportunity for you. Come join us and take a key role in shaping Novo Nordisk’s newly established clinical innovation centre CLINiC.
About the CLINiC
The CLINiC is a newly established area in Global Translation, which is part of Research & Early Development, where we drive all clinical development of products based on proteins and peptides from early development phases to product introduction and life cycle management. Historically, all Novo Nordisk phase 1 trials have been outsourced to CROs. Looking into the future with Novo Nordisk entering new therapeutic areas, there are increased requirements for agility and early decision-making and a need to complement the current set-up with new options for early phase and exploratory development.
The CLINiC is responsible for conducting multiple clinical pharmacology trials of an explorative nature, requiring high flexibility and quick learning cycles. The primary focus is First Human Dose and pre- & phase 1 studies investigating target engagement, biomarkers, disease modulatory endpoints, and formulation optimisation. The CLINiC works closely with various partners across Novo Nordisk including Global Drug Discovery, Clinical Drug Development, Global Research Technologies and CMC.
The CLINiC will open in Q2 2023 on the historic Novo Nordisk Steno Memorial Hospital site in Gentofte, Denmark. The CLINiC will include a laboratory, pharmacy and beds for 40-50 patients at a time.
The position
As Senior Medical Director, you will play a key role in establishing and shaping the CLINiC. You will be deeply involved in the daily operation, planning, and management of all clinical activities conducted at the centre in the role of a main principal investigator.
You will be responsible for medical input and contributions to the development and execution of clinical activities conducted at CLINiC in accordance with the Product Development Plans, and for delivering timely, accurate, and credible scientific and medical input to internal and external stakeholders.
One of your responsibilities will be to act as a medical representative for the CLINiC, both within and outside Novo Nordisk, and to build networks with Investigators and Key Opinion Leaders in relevant therapeutic areas in Denmark and the Nordics.
You will participate in the evaluation of the clinical importance of new findings and proactively provide an assessment of the potential impact on current and future projects.
Furthermore, you will play an important role in the CLINiC medical team, including performance management, competency development, and training.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a Medical Doctor with a PhD and/or specialist degree and with documented clinical and scientific expertise and 10+ years of experience preferably within clinical pharmacology, endocrine diseases, internal medicine cardiology, or anaesthesia.
You have experience in taking pre-clinical studies to Phase 1 as well as executing Phase 1 trials. Your experience spans several therapeutic areas, and you have an in-depth business understanding across Research & Development. You have a deep understanding of the regulatory/GCP landscape, especially in relation to both being an investigator/sponsor and how to navigate this successfully, without adding too much complexity.
You are excellent at stakeholder management and have extensive experience in establishing and maintaining connections externally and internally. You engage and collaborate with people at all levels and of different educational & cultural backgrounds.
You are familiar with working in a project-driven matrix organisation and can successfully collaborate across functions and multiple organisational levels. You have people management experience and can inspire and motivate your team to do their best.
Finally, you are recognised for your entrepreneurial mindset, and you thrive in a fast-changing environment.
