The position
Your main responsibility as a Senior Purification Scientist will be to ensure delivery of fit for purpose purified recombinant peptides and proteins to research projects. You will be assigned to several projects supporting our therapy areas with the aim of discovering new lead candidates for clinical development.
You will be working together with other scientists and highly skilled technicians in the department and together you secure fast and efficient laboratory scale purification methods and delivery of purified peptides and proteins according to needs using state of the art chromatography systems, membrane technology, liquid handlers and analytical equipment.
An important part of the job will be to communicate and discuss the results with other scientists as well as with stakeholders in the projects and in our CMC organisation. You are expected to be able to work independently hands-on in the laboratory and also through the hands of laboratory technicians and with input from other scientists.
Qualifications
You hold a PhD within, protein chemistry, molecular biology, bioprocess engineering or other similar with subsequent Postdoc assignment or equivalent experience from working with protein purification in pharmaceutical research. Alternatively, you have a MSc with around 5 years relevant experience from a similar position. To succeed in this position, you have:
• Profound experience with preparative column chromatography.
• Hands on experience with ÄKTA purification systems and Unicorn.
• Experience with basic analytical methods (SE-UPLC/RP-UPLC/LC-MS) and data analyses
• Prior experience with both peptide, protein, mAb and mAb derived formats is considered an advantage as is experience with developing refolding processes for inclusion bodies.
• Programming and scripting skills (e.g. Python).
• Continuous improvement and automation mind-set.

About the department
The Purification Technologies department currently counts 20 highly engaged scientists and technicians. The department belongs to the Recombinant Technologies CVP area in Global Research Technologies (GRT) and is situated outside Copenhagen in Måløv, Denmark. We are engaged in early research projects using state-of-the-art technology to deliver purified proteins and peptides from recombinant expressions carried out in sister departments for the development of lead molecules and selection for clinical development. In this context, the department is responsible for the purification of challenging tool proteins, platform-based automated purifications as well as highly customized purification of engineered variant molecules in milligram to gram scale quantities. In addition, the department also supports cell line development and is responsible for developing the initial purification process suited for transfer to our CMC colleagues. Working at Novo Nordisk
