Are you passionate about research and would you like to be part of a dynamic and dedicated team striving to change the quality of life for millions of people living with chronic diseases? We are seeking a skilled Associate Scientist to join Type 2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease Research.
The position
In this role, you will work closely with scientists and laboratory technicians to plan daily tasks and experimental activities. Your key responsibility will be to develop, optimize, and perform cell culture experiments and related downstream assays to elucidate relevant disease mechanisms and characterize potential drug candidates. Entailed within the role is a great opportunity to both improve in vitro skills and enhance scientific insight within vascular biology.
Qualifications
You hold a MSc degree with a strong experimental background in cellular systems, laboratory skills and ability to conduct high quality in vitro experiments.
To succeed in this role, you are expected to have: Hands-on experience with primary human cellular systems and biochemical assays Experience with establishing and validating cellular assays with functional readouts Worked with methods such as reporter-gene assays, ELISA, real-time PCR Previous experience with vascular related in vitro assays or 3D models is an advantage On a personal level, you are dedicated, pro-active, well-organized, and responsible and have a passion for troubleshooting and experimentation. In addition, you are collaborative and a team player and can operate in a dynamic environment with multiple concurrent tasks.
About the department
The position is anchored in the Vascular Biology department that is part of Type 2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease Research within Global Drug Discovery, Novo Nordisk A/S. As part of Novo Nordisk’s strategy within chronic metabolic diseases, we are focusing on target identification, target validation, and pre-clinical characterization of new assets intended to become novel treatment options for patients living with cardiometabolic diseases. In close collaboration with our colleagues, we are working in an organ-centric and disease agnostic manner to develop, characterize, and utilize in vitro tools to elucidate mode-of-action and profiling of novel biology and molecules for early evaluation of drug candidates.
