The positionThe Scientific Director functions as a subject matter expert and a strategic anchor between the Diabetes Therapy Area (TA) and stakeholders across the organisation i.e., Digital Science & Innovation, Global Translation as well as Clinical Development to ensure clear alignment and execution on opportunities to leverage the wealth of internal and external datasets at our disposal.Moreover, the Scientific Director will identify and execute on external partnerships to further expand our access to clinical data leveraging these in the context of key strategic priorities. The Scientific Director will be part of the “Metabolic Disease Research II” leadership team and drive initiatives in close collaboration with the leadership team as well as TA scientists. Moreover, the Scientific Director is expected to act as a scientific and professional role model for the TA scientists.Your main responsibilities can be summarised as follows:
  • Help define and drive the strategic digital priorities about cohort data utilisation within Type 2 diabetes (T2D)
  • Utilise subject matter expertise and analytical capabilities to define concrete activities within T2D TA and in synergies with other related TAs, such as patient segmentation and target identification efforts
  • Lead and guide cross-functional project teams to execute on above activities
  • Represent the TA in cross-organisational activities related to the utilisation of data from Novo Nordisk clinical trials
  • Drive identification of global scientific experts within T2D and scope scientific collaboration proposals for governance endorsement
  • Support a culture of collaboration, inclusiveness, respect, curiosity, entrepreneurism and be a role model of the Novo Nordisk way
  • Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree in health sciences (PhD, PharmD, etc) is required
  • 8+ years of post-graduate experience with a preference for relevant industry experience
  • Previous experience working with strategic elements in a matrix pharmaceutical organisation strongly preferred
  • Extensive disease understanding within the cardiometabolic space
  • Strong presentation and communication skills required
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across a large matrix organisation
  • Demonstrated success of strategic project ideation and execution
  • About the Department Metabolic Disease Research is anchored in the Diabetes and Obesity therapy area within Global Drug Discovery (GDD), Novo Nordisk A/S. As part of Novo Nordisk’s strategy within chronic metabolic diseases, we are focusing on target identification, target validation, and pre-clinical characterisation of new targets to become novel treatment options for patients living with cardiometabolic diseases.
