Data Engineer Director – Join Our Revolutionary Healthcare Data Insights program at Novo NordiskAre you a data engineer who is passionate about making a real impact on the healthcare industry? We are looking for a talented and experienced Data Engineer Director to join our team and help us become a global healthcare leader powered by data, analytics, and digital technologies. As a Data Engineer Director, you will play a critical role in building our state-of-the-art data insights platform, FounData, and developing outcomes and solutions that will transform the way we operate. You'll work alongside top talent in the industry and make a significant impact on the way we develop new medicines, improve quality, and create value for Novo Nordisk Development and Novo Nordisk at large.
The position
The FounData program is a new R&D data insights initiative designed to enhance data storage, curation/handling, analysis, and visualizations relevant to the entire organization. This initiative is set to revolutionize the way we use data in decision-making by enabling data availability from a one-stop clinical data shop. To achieve this, we require robust data pipelines and data models across various data modalities. The program is anchored within Data Science in the Development organization in Novo Nordisk (NN), and we aim to create a solution that spans the value chain.As the Data Engineer Director, you will play a vital role in the development of the FounData platform. Your primary responsibility will be to build and operate a consolidated data platform, including structuring, standardization, anonymization, curation, and utilization of data across the product development process. You will leverage your innovative thinking to drive new ways of continuously improving how we collect and utilize data throughout the organization. Furthermore, you will apply an adequate QMS framework and ensure that data is utilized according to the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable regulations and laws.
Qualifications
• You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree – within software engineering, computer science, data science, mathematics, natural sciences or similar
• Several years of experience in data engineering, including experience in leading teams and managing projects
• Experience with cloud-based technologies and architecture (e.g AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Strong understanding of data architecture, data modelling, and data management principles
• Experience with designing and implementing large-scale data processing systems using modern data processing technologies (e.g Hadoop, Spark)
• Knowledge of database technologies (e.g SQL, NoSQL, graph databases)
• Experience in building data pipelines and data models across different data modalities
• Understanding of agile software development methodologies and DevOps practices
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a strong ability to work cross-functionally
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Expertise in clinical data standards, either in a real-world data setting, clinical trial data standards and similarResponsibilities
• Build and operate a consolidated data platform, including structuring, standardization, anonymization, curation, and use of data across the product development process
• Coordinate data engineering and data operations teams
• Develop and implement data engineering best practices, tools, and processes
• Collaborate with data scientists, data analysts, and business stakeholders to define platform and data requirements
• Ensure the data platform is scalable, secure, and compliant with all applicable regulations and standards
• Continuously improve data quality, accuracy, and availability
• Drive innovation and explore new ways of collecting and utilizing data throughout the business
