The Department of Food Science at Aarhus University is seeking applications for a 2-year post doc.
The Post doc with focus on metabolomics and human nutrition The position includes scientific as well as teaching duties at the Department of Food Science. The position is mainly within nutritional metabolomics, where we seek to elucidate processes in the gastrointestinal tract and how these are affected by diet. Special focus is on the development and application of fecal metabolomics. The main field of expertise is within NMR-based metabolomics techniques, data processing and multivariate data analysis. The intended start date for this appointment is January 1, 2022.
The candidate is expected to:
* Perform NMR spectroscopic analyses including sample preparation
* Process and analyze data including the application of multivariate data analysis
* Write articles for high impact journals
* Assistance of users/students from the department in experimental procedures such as sample preparation as well as NMR experiments
* Assist students in data collection software and data analysis
* Participate in teaching at bachelor and master level, including laboratory courses
* Various duties related to the Department of Food Science

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.
Letter of reference
If you want a referee to upload a letter of reference on your behalf, please state the referee’s contact information when you submit your application. We strongly recommend that you make an agreement with the person in question before you enter the referee’s contact information, and that you ensure that the referee has enough time to write the letter of reference before the application deadline.

Technical Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Qualifications:

- Extensive experience in NMR-based metabolomics, spectral data analysis, and multivariate data analysis of metabolomics data
- A strong background in nutritional metabolomics
- Experience with fecal metabolomics data
- Documented strong writing skills
- Solid understanding of human physiology and nutrition, metabolism and biochemical processes in the gastrointestinal tract
- A good technical understanding of NMR and hands-on experience in running and maintenance of NMR spectrometer
- A MSc and PhD degree in food science, analytical chemistry, biochemistry or similar
