Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering a 1-year Research Assistant position within the topic “Plant Biologicals” commencing 16 September 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic researcher with proven expertise and interest in research on plant biologicals with organismic approaches and cell physiologigals analyses.
The research assistant´s duties will include research within Plant Biologicals. The project addresses the need for a transition to a sustainable and environment friendly agriculture within climate change scenarios while reducing agrochemicals. The increased occurrence and severity of adverse agro-climatic events threaten food production. Although inorganic fertilizers and pesticides determine crop productivity they negatively impact the environment, biodiversity, water bodies, and soils. The need for ecosystem friendly alternatives results in an increased interest in plant biologicals as biostimulants to ensure yield, tolerance to abiotic stress and pathogen infection to benefit yield stability and product quality. The research aims to address the current poor lab to field translation and the lack of robustness across pedo-climatic conditions through elucidating their mode of action. The post may also include performance of other duties.

Qualification requirements
- A BSc and MSc degree in biotechnology or equivalent
- Documented scientific research experience and knowledge of plant biologicals including beneficial microbes and biochemical biostimulants
- Practical experience with plant cell physiological assessment such as enzyme activity profiling
- Work experience with light-, fluorescence and confocal microscopy
- Preferentially hands on experience with greenhouse drought experiments with tomato and soybean and related ecophysiological measurements
- Fom advantage would be practical experience with seed germination and root growth assays
- Good organizational skills and a detail-oriented structured work approach
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
