The National Institute of Public Health, University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a three-year PhD position within the field of methodological issues in health survey research.
We are looking for a person with a completed master’s degree in a relevant field.
The starting date of the position is 1 April 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. Application deadline: 12 March 2021.

Research environment
The research group in Public Health in Denmark is an interdisciplinary co-operation among researchers in e.g. epidemiology, public health, and statistics.
The research group conducts research to examine the status and trends in health and morbidity and in factors that may influence the population’s health status in the adult Danish population. This information is typically gathered by health surveys or official administrative registers.

Project description
The title of the PhD project is Validity, reliability, and challenges of data from nationwide health surveys in Denmark, and it is funded by the National Institute of Public, University of Southern Denmark.
The overall aim of the PhD project is to investigate the validity, reliability, and challenges of data from nationwide health surveys in Denmark. More specifically, it will describe the study design, response proportions and respondent characteristics of these health surveys.
Furthermore, the aim is also to examine the impact of applying calibration weighting to adjust for non-response in these surveys, the validity of self-reported health outcomes when compared to data from administrative registers, and the reliability of self-reported health outcomes using repeated measurements.

Qualifications
We are looking for a dynamic candidate with a background and/or experience within public health and large health surveys.
The candidate should have good written and oral communication skills.
Experience with nationwide health surveys, administrative registers, statistical analyses, and scientific publications on methodological challenges in health surveys in peer-reviewed journals is highly meriting.
Experience using the SAS or STATA statistical programming language will also be an advantage.

The PhD programme will be carried out in accordance with Faculty regulations and the Danish Ministerial Order on the PhD Programme at the Universities (PhD order)

The terms of employment as a salaried PhD Research Fellow are stated in the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).
