Description
We are seeking a PhD fellow to apply proteomics strategies to investigate molecular changes in Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy. The PhD fellow shall focus on experimental and analytical strategies within quantitative proteomics and phosphoproteomics to outline molecular cardiac changes associated with the disease. The fellow will work with human and animal tissue samples as well as perform cell based work. The position provides an opportunity to develop expertise in quantitative mass spectrometry, cutting-edge discovery proteomics and integrative analysis of human, animal and cell based studies.
The candidate will be part of the Cardiac Proteomics group led by Professor Alicia Lundby at the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. The research focus of the Cardiac Proteomics group is to use high-resolution LC-MS/MS to obtain insights beyond the current molecular understanding of the heart; both at the level of protein expression, as well as phosphorylation mediated protein signaling. We work closely together with cardiologists to ensure high impact and translatability of our research.
Responsibilities and Tasks
The successful candidate will:
Qualifications
The preferred applicant will possess an excellent academic track record and solid research experience and be highly motivated to perform science to extract novel findings of importance to cardiac (patho)physiology.
We offer
You will become part of a research environment spanning cardiologists, geneticists performing next generation sequencing on cardiac patient samples, experimental groups performing follow-up experiments in model organisms such as zebrafish, mouse and pig as well as molecular biologists. We strive for academic excellence, collegial respect and freedom tempered by responsibility.
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
Workplace and period of employment
The Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
The period of employment is 3 years.
