København N

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic researcher with expertise in chromatin organization or functional genomics to unravel the Dynamics of Genome Architecture for a fixed 3-year position to start earliest 1 November 2021 or soon thereafter.

The position will be based at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR) in the Structure and Function of the 3D Genome group headed by Nils Krietenstein. More information on the CPR can be found at: https://www.cpr.ku.dk

Our research
The Krietenstein group studies genome architecture and chromatin dynamics. It is our goal to elucidate the dynamics of spatial chromatin organization. We employ state of the art sequencing technologies to elucidate 3D genome organization at nucleosomes resolution (Micro-C) and use complementary 1D approaches for epigenetic profiling in the context of fundamental research as well as health-relevant cellular processes. It is also our strong interest to develop novel tools that address chromosome conformation dynamics from in vitro biochemistry to the organismal level. The Krietenstein lab will start at the Novo Nordisk Center for Protein research (CPR) in Copenhagen in October. CPR is a highly diverse and collaborative research institute with world-leading scientists and cutting-edge core facilities, such as deep-sequencing, microscopy and mass-spectrometry. We value a collaborative spirit and the interest to work in a diverse and international research environment.

Your job

You will join a junior research team to elucidate the dynamic structure of 3-dimensional genome organization. An essential part of your work will be to develop novel, sequencing based tools to profile genome organization with high resolution. Therefore, a strong interest in technology development and analysis of next generation sequencing (NGS) data is required. The Krietenstein lab has a strong interest to contribute to the collaborative community at CPR and in Copenhagen. Your work and your interest to engage into the scientific community will be essential to establish the Krietenstein lab in its new environment. You will have the opportunity to work independently and to strongly influence the research direction of the Krietenstein group at CPR. Other tasks will include dissemination of your discoveries on internal seminars, active participation in international workshops and conferences and writing of scientific manuscripts.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

  • You have a PhD in Life science or related fields.
  • You are highly experienced in chromatin biology, including cell biology or biochemistry.
  • You have an active interest in understanding genome regulation.
  • You have documented expertise in Next-generation sequencing (NGS) data workflow and analysis of functional genomics data sets (e.g., ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, Hi-seq).
  • Good organization and flexibility.
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams.
  • Excellent English skills written and spoken.

Place of employment

The employment is at CPR (www.cpr.ku.dk), a Novo Nordisk Foundation center of excellence established in 2007 and embedded in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, to promote basic and applied research on human proteins of medical relevance. The Center comprises modern laboratories, supercomputer resources and state-of-the- art facilities within protein science and genomics. CPR is an interdisciplinary international environment with English as the main language. We are located in central Copenhagen, a city with one of the highest qualities of life in the world and a vibrant and highly interactive research environment. The University of Copenhagen has a strong focus on balancing professional life with a family-friendly working environment https://www.ism.ku.dk/faq.
