The University seeks to appoint a clinical professor of Neurology with special focus on Multiple Sclerosis Epidemiology to commence as soon as possible. The externally funded professorship is combined with a consultancy at Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet, Department of Neurology in the Capital Region.
It is a requirement for appointment that the applicant is accepted for both the professorship and the consultancy. In order to be considered for the position, the applicant must send two applications: one to the Faculty (the professorship) and one to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the consultancy. Job description
In the consideration of applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of Neurology.
The professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of five years.
For the professorship the appointee will receive a pensionable annual salary of 200,193.32 DKK (1 October 2023 level).

Job description
In the consideration of applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of Neurology.
The professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:
- Research, including publication/academic dissemination:
The professor will be responsible for developing a comprehensive research program in neuroepidemiology with focus on prevention and treatment for MS. Furthermore, the professor will be expected to foster collaborations with other researchers and institutions both nationally and internationally and build a strong and innovative research network. - Research-based teaching, including associated examination:
The professor will be expected to contribute to teaching medical students at University of Copenhagen in clinical neurology, as well as supervising bachelor and master's theses and PhD students in clinical neuroscience. Furthermore, the professor will be responsible for tutoring international medical students who are visiting the Department of Neurology. - Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of bachelor and master students as well as PhD students:
As a research leader, the professor will be responsible for developing and leading her/his own research group. This will include developing and implementing research strategies, securing funding, recruiting and mentoring researchers and students, publishing scientific papers, and disseminating knowledge and results to the public. The professor will also be expected to participate in and lead national and international research networks. By doing so, the professor will help to build collaborations and partnerships with other researchers and institutions to address some of the emerging scientific questions in the field. - Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
