The Experimental Particle Physics group at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, invites applications for a postdoctoral research position funded by the Carlsberg Foundation to work on the IceCube Neutrino Observatory.

The postdoc’s duties will include research in neutrino oscillation physics within the IceCube collaboration as well as the possibility to assist with teaching and/or the supervision of students. The candidate is expected to play a leading role in data analysis from the DeepCore sub-array of IceCube as well as development and optimization of the IceCube Upgrade, a low-energy detector extension to be deployed in 2022/23. As such, candidates should have demonstrated strong programming skills and data analysis experience in particle physics, astrophysics, or a related field.

The 2-year position is open from 1 June 2020, or as soon as possible thereafter

The successful candidate will be based in Copenhagen with travel for workshops, meetings, and other collaborative activities. The Niels Bohr Institute is a vibrant and active research environment and frequent contact with theorists in the Niels Bohr International Academy will enhance the research experience.

Terms of employment

The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

The starting salary is currently up to DKK 434.179 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 74.244). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
