The Department of Arts and Cultural Studies, Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen (UCPH), Denmark, invites applications for a 3-yearpostdoctoral position affiliated with the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Practice-based Art Studies (PASS) to be filled by 1 April 2024,or as soon as possible thereafter.

About PASS
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Practice-based Art Studies (PASS) will in the period 2023-28 build and consolidate a national research education and research development environment with the aim of creating connections and synergies between theoretical art historical research and the forms of applied, practice-based research and knowledge production that take place in the social and institutional networks of the art world.

With this goal in mind, a central task of the center will be to build bridges and stimulate cross-fertilization between different forms of academic and practice-based research within the visual arts and a wide range of other disciplines. The center will contribute to the integration of artistic practice, artistic research, curatorial research, archive-based research, museum practice, exhibition activities and art communication in all its breadth in art research.

Over the past fifteen years, few fields of research and practice have expanded the idea of the scholarly publication more radically than that of practice-based art studies. Print media, digital, exhibitions and both online and in-situ events are now understood and evaluated as practice-based research outcomes from artists, curators and art historians alike. Among other matters relating to practice-based art studies, PASS intends to both explore and contribute to this publishing ecosystem.

Job profile and tasks
The postdoc is expected to conduct practice-based research and development projects directly related to PASS' academic goals in collaboration with the center's core team of artists and academics. The proposed project should address questions concerning methods and practices of 'publication' in art studies. The postdoc is expected to provide reflections on and guidelines for methods and practices of publishing in the field, including print publications, web publications, exhibitions, performances, and events.

Furthermore, the postdoc will be responsible for workshops and other teaching activities aimed at PhD students and practitioners in the field.
