A Postdoc position in archaeometry is offered in the Environmental Archaeology and Materials Science Section at the National Museum of Denmark.

The successful candidate will work with strontium isotope analysis / archaeometry in a row of research projects led by Research Professor Karin Margarita Frei. We are looking for a skilled colleague who will be actively involved in the National Museum’s collaborations with various institutions, including other museums and universities. The research area has a pronounced interdisciplinary and collaborative nature whose main goal is to develop bioavailable strontium isotope baselines in areas of southern Europe in order to elucidate mobility in prehistory.

Terms of salary and employment
The working hours are 37 hours a week. Salary, pension, and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central Organization in Denmark and Circular concerning the job structure for academic staff with research responsibilities in archives, libraries, museums etc. under the Danish Ministry of Culture.
The appointment is for 12 months, starting on the 1st of May 2020 or shortly thereafter.
The place of work is at the Danish National Museum’s Section for Environmental Archaeology and Materials Science in Brede, Kgs. Lyngby, north of Copenhagen.
The National museum will set up an (internal) Assessment Committee to assess the applications.

- Contribute to ongoing research projects and to organize and conduct relevant fieldwork.
- Contribute actively to the general development of the research area.
- Develop and promote interdisciplinary collaboration with the National Museum’s other research sections, and with relevant national and international partners and institutions.
- Publish the research results in international peer reviewed journals.
- Communicate research results in academic and other relevant forums.
- Assist in organizing international workshops and network meetings in connection with the research projects.
Qualifications
We expect the following from the successful candidate:
- To hold a PhD in archaeometry, geo- or environmental sciences or similar qualifications.
- To have strong competencies in strontium isotope analysis and interpretation of results obtained.
- To have experience in laboratory work related to strontium isotope analysis.
- To have experience in fieldwork related to establishing strontium isotope baselines.
- To have theoretical (and preferably practical) insights into environmental sciences.
- To have documented experience with publishing in international peer reviewed journals.
- To master English in writing and speech.
- To be collaborative and good at working in teams.
