Do you have experience with NIR spectroscopy in a pharmaceutical setting? Do you want to develop spectroscopy analytical methods for solid dosage units? Are you interested in modelling of data? Then we have a very exciting opportunity for you in Oral Protein Formulation (OPF).

OPF is part of Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) Development, that belongs to Novo Nordisk’s Research & Development (R&D) family. Our ambition is to develop world class tablet products for diabetic patients based on oral delivery of peptides.

About the department

OPF is approximately 150 people and is responsible for the development and supply of product to preclinical and clinical trials in Novo Nordisk’s oral portfolio. The position is anchored in the cross-functional team Future Manufacturing and Digital Innovation, consisting of chemists, lab technicians, data engineers and data scientists looking to push and implement new technology within our area. You will be joining the group that focuses on real-time release testing and continuous manufacturing for future products.

The position

In this role you will develop spectroscopy methods to analyse and characterise the solid-state material and products used in our production process of solid dosage units, from powder to tablets. This will primarily be with NIR (near-infrared), but can also extend to LIF (light-induced fluorescence) and Raman. You will be responsible for writing experimental protocols, doing hands-on work in the lab, handling and modelling of spectroscopy data, reporting and evaluating these. As a part of the group you will be pushing the spectroscopy technology usage in the solid dosage area and have an opportunity to make a positive impact with the advantages the technology offers.

Qualifications

To be a success in this role we expect that you have:

  • M.Sc. or PhD in Pharmacy, chemistry or related field preferably coupled with experience from the pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong experience with chemometrics and modelling of spectroscopy data
  • Hands-on experience with NIR spectroscopy method development and validation
  • Proficiency in Matlab and PLS (partial least square) toolbox is an advantage
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for NIR and GMP is an advantage

On a personal level, you enjoy working with people from different professional backgrounds who are dedicated towards meeting our common goals. You enjoy working in an informal atmosphere where flexibility and responsibility goes hand in hand and are eager to see things progress. Lastly, you are good at communicating complex content to people with different backgrounds.
