Are you an ambitious and hands-on chemist with proven experience in drug discovery, organic chemistry, or synthesis and modification of peptides and proteins? Are you interested in growing your career in a fast-paced environment within one of the world’s largest and most successful biopharmaceutical companies? In that case, you now have the opportunity to join Research Chemistry, which is part of Global Research Technologies located in Måløv, Denmark.
About the department
Research Chemistry is involved in the discovery and development of proteins and peptides for the treatment of diabetes, obesity and other serious chronic diseases. We are organized in three departments and mainly focussed on peptide and protein chemistry, but also other molecular formats. The department consists of a mixture of skilled chemists, technicians and PhD students, and we are proud of our high technical standards and ambitions, constructive collaborations and good relationships across the organization.
The position
You will work with a broad range of tasks within early drug discovery in multidisciplinary project groups together with other talented scientists and technicians.
One key responsibility of this position is to design, plan and execute synthesis and modification of peptides, proteins and other molecular formats to improve their therapeutic properties. You are expected to have experience with purification and characterization using UPLC, HPLC-MS, and NMR. An important task is also to identify robust synthetic routes and secure scalability of chemical processes for novel APIs and reagents.
Besides excellence in organic chemistry, thorough biological understanding, experience with drug development, and flair for structure-activity based design, is a clear advantage.
Experience with automation, programming, and a good equipment understanding, is also an advantage. The qualified candidate is also expected to critically analyse, report, and interpret experimental data and prepare clear and well-documented findings in presentations while representing Research Chemistry in research project teams.
Finally, the ideal candidate keeps up with recent literature and takes interest in identification and progression of novel technologies and new project opportunities.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with a strong scientific background holding a PhD degree in organic chemistry or a related discipline. The ideal candidate also has a minimum of 2-4 years of practical experience from an industry or academic setting working with drug discovery or hand-on peptide chemistry. A genuine interest in laboratory-based organic/peptide synthesis work, a thorough biological understanding, and experience with process optimization, including tech transfer, is an additional advantage.
Since most of the work takes place in multidisciplinary project groups, it will be key to display success-oriented team play. The right candidate will find it easy to build relationships between team and project members and gain recognition amongst stakeholders with enthusiasm, proactiveness, integrity, and communication skills.
Global Research Technologies is an organisation with many international employees, and we value diversity.
