MoCS’ research activities span across the humanities and social sciences. Movement is at the heart of the unit's work focusing on experiential, bodily, emotional, cultural and social aspects of movement. Thus, the unit´s research ranges from phenomenological analyses of movement practices (for example parkour, yoga, community dance and improvisational practices) to analyses of different sub-cultures of physical activity and their organization. Staff-members are part of several international research networks in the fields of phenomenology, sports philosophy, cultural analysis, and sociology.
Applicants must hold a PhD-degree with relevance for dance practices. Applicants with an interest in, and documented experience from any or all of the following will be prioritized:
• A background in different kinds and forms of dance practice, artistic performance and/or contemporary circus.
• Critical social and cultural approaches towards dance, performance and related modes of practice.
• A background in handling interdisciplinary challenges of using practice-based research for phenomenological informed analyses.
• Dance practices – and embodied and extended cognition
• Documented experience from publishing in international journals
• A strong record of teaching and mentoring in the field of dance or a related form of movement practices
Potential applicants will be expected to teach and supervise student projects in the programs offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences with a focus on both the undergraduate and the Master programs at the Department of Sports Sciences and Clinical Biomechanics. Undergraduate programs include different dance practices.
The Assistant professor/Associate professor will be responsible for one or two of these programs. Accordingly, a strong teaching portfolio in different dance practices, including for example community dance, Laban, creative dance activities and social dance forms, will be valued.
