Electrical Engineering at the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering of the University of Southern Denmark is located on the international campus in Odense and at the Centre for Industrial Electronics in Sønderborg, Denmark. The Electrical Engineering Sections of SDU is a strongly growing and highly international and interdisciplinary group with the ambition to create a lighthouse in electrical engineering. The campus Odense is a fast-growing international community with an open Scandinavian culture, affordable housing and living costs.

Job description
We are seeking an active Researcher with an entrepreneur mindset and the passion to educate young students for the SDU Electrical Engineering Section located in Odense. This unit will, fully developed, count more than 25 members active in research, innovation, consulting and education. If you have an excellent track record in several of the following research areas:

  • High Voltage DC (HVDC) and AC transmission networks
  • Synchronous generators, power transformers and other related high voltage areas – such as switch gear, cable etc.
  • Offshore and onshore wind farms
  • Standards and grid codes for integration of renewable resources
  • Protection and stability of power systems with high penetration of renewables

In addition, experience with

  • Simulation tools such as MATLAB and DigSilent PowerFactory.
  • Real-time and hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) simulation
  • Industrial development in electrical engineering

The position will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor and preferably have a starting date of 1.3.2021. The appointment as Assistant Professor is for 3 years and the Associate Professor position is permanent.

Qualifications
The candidates should have a PhD in electrical engineering with focus on power systems.

We also expect:

- Fluency in spoken and written English

- An outstanding experience with industrial collaboration

- Extensive research and publication track record
- Documented experience of working in international environments

- A strong track record of attracting research funding and relevant teaching experience will be an advantage

- Fluency in Danish (or close languages such as Norwegian and Swedish) will be
an advantage

Appointment to the positions will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

A panel will assess the qualification of the candidate for the described post based on the submitted material, which should include

  • a Curriculum Vitae and statement of motivation
  • a list of publications
  • ideas for research and development activities
  • a teaching portfolio
  • relevant diplomas

Conditions of employment
The appointment as Associate Professor is permanent while that as Assistant Professor is for an initial period of 3 years.
