A position as associate professor and as program leader for diabetes care and patient and public involvement in research is vacant at the Department of Clinical Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark, and at the Steno Diabetes Center Odense (SDCO), Odense University Hospital (OUH), for five years.
Depending on the applicant, the position as associate professor will be combined with a clinical position at SDCO e.g. as nurse or as consultant. The allocation of time between the associate professorship and the clinical position is to be negotiated.
The Steno Diabetes Center Odense (SDCO) was created in collaboration between the Region of Southern Denmark and the Novo Nordisk Foundation ( http://www.ouh.dk/wm510151 ) and is located at Odense University Hospital.
The associate professor will refer to the Head of Research at SDCO (Professor Kurt Højlund) and will be a member of SDCO's research council.
The associate professor must have a strong record in the field of diabetes care and technology and patient and public involvement in research. The associate professor will be expected to initiate clinically relevant studies in these areas of diabetes research, and will be responsible for the implementation of patient and public involvement in research at SDCO. The associate professor must be qualified within the field of diabetes and patient care and patient and public involvement in research.
SDCO comprises an array of research programs each run by a program leader. This position includes program leadership. See SDCO's research strategy at: http://www.ouh.dk/wm522003. The program leaders will refer to the Professor/Head of Research. Initially, at least one position as PhD student and/or post-doc will be made available for the associate professor.
The associate professor will be expected to ensure that SDCO attracts substantial research funding from external sources in relation to the research program.
