A position as Assistant or Associate Professor (10 % time) is vacant at the Research Unit of Clinical Genetics, Department of Clinical Research (KI), University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and at the Department of Clinical Genetics, Odense University Hospital-Svendborg Hospital (OUH).

The position is limited to five years with the possibility of extension.

The research unit

The Research Unit of Clinical Genetics at the Department of Clinical Research, SDU, provides training and education in medical and clinical genetics for medical students at both bachelor's and master's level, as well as research in clinical genetics, genomic analyses, and bioinformatics.

The academic position

The job involves research, professional development, research education, teaching, including exams, supervision, and assessment work within the field of medical and clinical genetics.

Expectations and qualifications

The assistant or associate professor must be employed as a molecular biologist/clinical laboratory geneticist at the Department of Clinical Genetics, OUH. The assistant or associate professor must have documented research experience within the areas of medical and/or clinical genetics.

In addition, good cooperation skills are expected in order to further the development of research in the areas mentioned above, both interdisciplinary as well as nationally and internationally. International partners is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Furthermore, the potential applicant must possess:

  • A PhD degree or equivalent post-graduate research qualification
  • Relevant research experience documented by publications in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Relevant clinical experience
  • Successful track record in obtaining research funding

Danish language skills are not required initially, however, should be mastered within the first 2 years of employment.

The assistant or associate professor will refer to the Head of the Department of Clinical Genetics, professor, Pd.D. Lilian Bomme Ousager, in matters concerning the clinical part of the job, and to the Head of the Department of Clinical Research, Kirsten Ohm Kyvik, in matters regarding the academic position.

Salary and terms of employment

The applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the university.
