In the section for Plasma Physics and Fusion Energy (PPFE) at the Department of Physics, Technical University of Denmark (DTU) we research in plasma physics to mature the conditions for fusion power plants. In PPFE, we have installations on world-leading fusion experimental devices around Europe and we host the NORTH project, the only tokamak experiment in Scandinavia. We are currently expanding our activities and building up new plasma experiments and we need curious people to participate in this expansion.

The job
We are seeking an electrical engineer to support our experimental plasma physics research. The team operates microwave measurement systems on large plasma facilities in Europe and hosts several experimental facilities at DTU. The successful candidate will be part of a team that designs and maintains these systems and will be working in a research team equipped with state-of-the-art analog, digital and microwave tools.

Primary areas of responsibility

  • Design and assemble microwave systems for scattering experiments. This work could include circuit design, PCB design, FPGA design, prototyping and debugging
  • Maintenance of electronics systems for sensing and control
  • Benchmark and troubleshoot experimental setups (including high voltage)

Our expectations of you
You are expected to have

  • a BSc degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent) OR an MSc in Physics or engineering (or related fields)
  • Experience with programming (Labview, Python, Matlab or Fortran)
  • Interest in microcontroller boards such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or FPGA
  • Hands-on experience and a personal drive


Experience with High Voltage is preferred but not a requirement.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). Expected start date will be around February / March.
