Are you interested in working with the corporate history of one of the most significant companies in Denmark and the unique archives that document it over time? You now have an attractive opportunity to become Corporate Historian at Novo Nordisk.
This is a permanent position based in Bagsværd, Denmark to be filled as soon as possible or from May 2020.
About the department
Novo Nordisk History and Art Collection is part of the department Global Information & Analysis (GLIA) and works as a cross-functional team with many different areas and departments within Novo Nordisk.
You will join a specialised team consisting of an art historian and associated consultants, which is engaged in external interactions and cooperates with relevant key stakeholders such as museums, writers and journalists.
The position
Novo Nordisk holds a unique collection of significant historical value consisting of archived documents and artefacts dating back to the creation of the two original companies. As Corporate Historian, you will be responsible for the daily management of the archives and for answering internal and external requests about the company history. One of your key tasks will be to outline and implement a digital strategy for the collection, covering the recent and present history. You will also be responsible for updating procedures, governance and the general policy for gathering material for the history collection.
In 2023 Novo Nordisk will mark its 100-year anniversary and, leading up to this major event, you will be involved in activities that require solid knowledge of the company history and the archival material.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position, you hold a degree in history supplemented with comprehensive experience with collection (of both physical and digital archival material), registration and related archival tasks. Documented hands-on experience with corporate history from a similar position is an advantage. Novo Nordisk History Collection uses databases ARKIBAS and TMS and previous knowledge of these is therefore also an advantage. Further advantage would be experience with communicating of historical knowledge.
As a person you have a highly organised and structured approach to your work. You enjoy working independently as well as contributing to project groups. You take full ownership of your work and you have a meticulous attention to details. Furthermore, you are keen to take initiatives and drive activities, which improve and optimize the archives and the work processes around them.
As the majority of the archival documents are written in Danish, we expect that your native language is Danish and that you excel at written and spoken English, as this is our corporate language.
