The Digital Health Commercial Strategy team in Commercial Strategy & Corporate Affairs (CSCA) is seeking a driven Communications Lead (maternity cover) with expertise in communications, strong executional skills, a business mind-set and excellent stakeholder management competences to deliver on existing internal and external communication plans for Novo Nordisk Digital Health.

This maternity cover is contracted at 14.5 months, which offers you a unique opportunity to prove and widen your skillsets within a dynamic, rapidly growing team of colleagues who are committed to improving patient outcomes, to expanding Novo Nordisk’s leadership in diabetes care and to paving the way for a new era of connected health in the healthcare community at large. As Communications Lead you will play an essential role in progressing this vision by executing on existing external and internal plans that are founded in solid communications and marketing fundamentals.


About the department
Digital Health Commercial Strategy is part of the Commercial Innovation area, where we ensure that patients are provided with the best possible benefits from Novo Nordisk products through Patient Insights, Digital Health solutions, Patient Support Solutions and other non-regulated initiatives.

In Digital Health, we drive and anchor the global Digital Health strategy as well as our commercial partnership strategy. We own and shape the commercial development of digital health solutions, both internally and through partners, based on connected insulin injection pens, Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM)/ Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) devices and other wearables. We define go to market strategies for such solutions and the real world data strategy for data collected through digital health solutions and generally function as the center of excellence globally for Digital Health.

In this role, you will initially support the current Digital Health Communication Lead. You will then drive the various initiatives while supporting the Corporate Vice President of Commercial Innovation with a dotted reporting line to the Vice President of Digital Health.

The position
Under the guidance of the Communication Lead, you will receive a strong introduction to the work and projects conducted by the Novo Nordisk Digital Health team. You will assume responsibility for executing the existing strategic communication plan during the launch of key Digital Health activities, both ensuring excellence in work done globally, and supporting local affiliates in their efforts. As additional Digital Health activities emerge, you may also need to build on and adapt existing strategies in order to deliver across various projects.

Currently planned activities span a wide variety of disciplines, from public relations to online community engagement. You will be responsible for updating the core communication pack, including elements such as key messages, issues management plans, Q&A’s and FAQ’s. A key part of the role is to execute on and progress community management and social media activities with a thoughtful and results (data) oriented mindset.

You will also use communication strategies to raise visibility of progress and key data as well as leveraging e.g. key congresses to educate media and healthcare providers about presented data and key communication milestones and evaluate key external speaker opportunities.

In addition to this, you will help roll out internal communication efforts and you will assume an internal communication advisory role within the Digital Health team by providing communication guidance to colleagues and brand teams across CSCA in relation to Digital Health.

The variety of work requires strong project and stakeholder management skills, as well as focus.

In this role, you will work closely with Corporate Communications, Investor Relations, brand teams, Market Access as well as other relevant functions to ensure alignment on the communication strategies and you will closely manage a reputable communication and PR agency to deliver agreed results according to these strategies.

To succeed, you will develop strong relationships and secure engagement with key stakeholders, internally and externally. Proactive communication and close collaboration with brand teams and stakeholders across the organisation is a key success factor for this role!

Qualifications
You hold a degree within Communications, Business, Public Relations, Journalism, possibly combined with a Scientific degree. You have some communication experience within the pharmaceutical and/or med-tech industry, ideally including disease market knowledge within diabetes or other chronic disease areas. You have a proven track record of executing patient and/or consumer facing digital activities, such as social media. Some of this experience may come from outside of the healthcare industry. You likely have a healthy interest in the emerging digital health field and behavioural science.

You have five to eight years of experience and documented results that span a wide range of communication disciplines, hereunder experience generating media coverage at a global level, as well as aiding and advising local affiliates on communication matters. You are able to regularly consult and train senior management to speak to sensitive communication matters, such as launches or major change processes.

To successfully handle these responsibilities, outstanding English-language communication skills must be supported by a strategic business mindset and an understanding of digital media channels. You are a finisher who can move quickly to execute on existing plans and ideas, adapting as needed in order to deliver according to core business objectives. Your strong executional abilities are balanced with a focus on quickly building strong relationships within a complex stakeholder landscape, helping you manage a variety of cross-functional projects. Moreover, you have proven and necessary experience working with agencies, delegating and overseeing projects.

The position is expected to start on 1 October 2020 and will run until 23 December 2021. It is based in Søborg, Denmark, approximately 5 miles from the centre of Copenhagen. Some travel should be expected.
