CEM invites applications for a 2-year full-time position (37 hours per week) as laboratory technician, starting from 1 October 2021, with an expected possibility for extension.

Your profile
The successful candidate has experience with techniques for microbiology, molecular biology, chemical analysis, and/or experimental laboratory and field work, good communication skills in English, and wants to be part of a fast-developing, interdisciplinary research field.

We are looking for a technician who can engage in several diverse projects at a time, independently plan and prioritize his/her time, and is able to interact with students, researchers and fellow technicians in dynamic research projects. Prior experience from a research environment is an asset.

Who we are
The Center for Electromicrobiology, (CEM;, http://cem.au.dk) , Aarhus University is a Center of Excellence supported by the Danish National Research Foundation. The aim of CEM is to establish a novel view on electron flow between living cells by addressing three overarching research questions: how are the electrons transported, how are they exploited by the cells, and how do they shape ecosystems? The centimeter-long cable bacteria with internal electron conductors connecting thousands of cells have the main role in CEM’s endeavors. CEM was established in 2017 and if the first 6 years funding is extended with another 4 years as expected, the position will be extended until 2027 as well.

Place of Work and Area of Employment
The position is based at CEM and embedded in the Section for Microbiology, Department of Biology, situated at the city campus, 8000 Aarhus C. The Section offers an international working environment with 9 experienced technicians, state-of-the-art facilities for molecular and ecological microbiology, next generation sequencing, geochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, and electrochemistry.

The working adresse is Ny Munkegade 116, 8000 Aarhus C.
