About the department

Manufacturing Development (MDev) is bridging our development and manufacturing units. Here we strive to improve the production and analysis processes, all to secure stable delivery of high-quality products in regulatory compliance to millions of patients all over the world. We are approximately 150 engaged project managers, chemists, laboratory technicians, and specialists divided in five departments.

You will be a part of the Specialised Support Department, where you will find 15 highly skilled and motivated colleagues with a “can-do” attitude, who constantly challenge themselves to create, upscale and maintain robust production processes. The department works closely together with CMC Process Development, Strategic Sourcing, Regulatory Affairs and Production.

The job

You will have the opportunity to use your strong synthesis skills within classical organic chemistry and solid phase synthesis for chemical modification of recombinant peptides and proteins, production of novel APIs, and apply your team working abilities to effectively progress our projects.

You will support the development of robust chemical processes for phase 3 clinical trials & market, this also includes the support of process transfer to Novo Nordisk’s own production facilities or a CMO. Generate relevant technical documentation in development reports for use in later regulatory filings and additional work on optimizing existing processes. All of this is done in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders including Late Stage Development, analysis teams, QA, RA, Sourcing, pilot facilities, production facilities, and external partners. Minor travel activities must be expected (less than 2 weeks per year).

When relevant you will be part of cross-functional project groups.

Qualifications

You hold a M. Sc. or PhD in synthetic organic chemistry and in addition to having practical experience with organic synthesis, you preferably also have experience with chemical modification of peptides / proteins and solid phase peptide synthesis.

Furthermore, an innovative and flexible mind-set being able to convert theory into practical solutions is expected. You must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively across disciplines in development, production, and with external partners. Moreover, you have a positive attitude, the ability to be both a team player and to work independently on complicated projects ensuring timely progress.
