A full-time position as an associate professor (or assistant professor) in precision psychiatry is vacant and to be filled as per April 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter at the Research Unit of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Department of Clinical Research (KI), University of Southern Denmark (SDU).
The position is limited to 5 years with a possibility of extension.
The academic position, expectations, and qualifications
The creation of the position directly supports ambitions within the topic of personalized medicine and big data outlined in “Psykiatriplan 2020-2024” from the Region of Southern Denmark.
The candidate will be expected to actively contribute to these outlined research ambitions and to have a documented academic track-record preferably within psychiatry as well as experience with using and/or applying varying methods to answer different research questions.
Research ambitions
The candidate will further be expected to demonstrate a high level of independence and ability to plan, design, and conduct studies within psychiatry on selected topics to advance current knowledge and inform clinical practice. There will be opportunities for the candidate to independently plan, design, and conduct own research projects focused on specific mental disorders (diagnoses) or outcomes. For all projects the candidate will be expected to identify and collaborate with local, national, and international experts.
Statistical analyses and data responsibilities
We are looking for a candidate who ideally will conduct statistical analyses for planned studies and oversee/supervise statistical analyses conducted by collaborators or students working in the group or at the department. Further responsibilities will be securing updated datasets suited for the research ambitions of the group, including creating and updating datasets on servers/platforms at Statistics Denmark and/or The Danish Health Data Authority, as well as ensuring that all procedures and handling of data follows guidelines and rules (GDPR).

Salary and terms of employment
The applicant will be employed at Department of Clinical Research, SDU in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Qualifications

- Dissemination and publication (international peer-reviewed journals)
- Research output specifically relevant for advancing precision psychiatry, including work considering individual variability in risk factors related to environment, genes, biological measures and/or lifestyle.
- Research output demonstrating ability to answer complex research questions applying different use of analytic approaches and study designs.
- Using data from a variety of data sources including population registers for research purposes, including a track record of handling large datasets, hands on experience with applications for data access, and understanding of requirements for working on datasets including personal and sensitive information.
Other documented qualifications could include:
- Supervision and teaching experience (Bachelor to PhD level)
- Attracting external research funding.
