System Administrator with focus on VMWare and Hyper-V
Are you an experienced system administrator in VMWare and Hyper V technologies and ready to be a key player in DFDS’s IT-Infrastructure? Then we have just the right position for you.
In DFDS Group IT we are looking for an experienced Hypervisor System Administrator.
Working as part of the Data Center Infrastructure Team, this role will be responsible for ensuring infrastructure and processing service responsibilities are met for supported systems and applications.
You will work closely together with colleagues in the infrastructure departments, other IT departments & third-party providers, so you need to be a good team player.
Your key responsibilities will be the following;
Expected background and skills
We are looking for a candidate with a solid technical background combined with a relevant education within IT. We imagine that you have several years of practical experience with a medium to large enterprise infrastructure.
Furthermore, you have a proven track record within the VMWare and Hyper-V core technologies but also a knowledge of new technologies in relation to cloud services, and other virtualization technologies are required for the position, as DFDS are moving with the trends and technology towards a hybrid and multi-cloud setup.
You are fluent in Windows Server, Active Directory, PowerShell and SAN technology as well, enabling you to influence and work with the entire stack in the hypervisor environment.
As a person, you are very 'hands-on' focusing on both documenting changes and executing the agreed deliveries. You create and maintain relationships and are a distinct team player. You are motivated by introducing new technologies and have the ability and desire to translate these into business value as you increase your experience.

Due to the nature of the business requirements and their high availability support requirements, planned activities and upgrades will sometimes need to be completed outside of business hours. Furthermore, DFDS has many different locations and therefore the position requires that you are able to travel around 5-15 days a year.

- Day to day maintenance of DFDS’ VMWare and Hyper-V environments on multiple locations
- Provide 2’nd and 3’rd line support of VMWare, Hyper-V and related Wintel issues
- Technical ownership and continues improvement of our hypervisor setups
- Contributor in managing DFDS’ large and complex Windows server and Active Directory infrastructure
- Participate in projects involving your area of responsibility. The projects can be everything from upgrading existing systems to implementing new global solutions that support DFDS’s different business areas.
- Creation, update and maintenance of the technical knowledgebase and documentation
- Providing technical support and mentoring to other members of the team

- Solid experience as system administrator with focus on VMWare and Hyper-V
- Good experience with scripting and automation in Powershell
- Experience with standardized processes based on ITIL best practice
- Good all-round Wintell knowledge
- Knowledge about infrastructure architecture and Storage technologies

- You must be able to independently identify technical challenges, suggest and implement solutions
- You can bridge the gap between people and systems with good communication and interpersonal skills
- You are analytic and structured, and good at identifying root causes
- You are a team player.
- You are fluent in oral and written English and preferably in a Scandinavian language.
