The position As the Director of a group of leaders, your primary role involves overseeing the mechanical design aspects of Device projects across multiple therapy areas within the portfolio. You will be responsible for developing and implementing both short-term and long-term business, as well as optimization strategies. Additionally, play a crucial role in translating strategy into day-to-day execution, planning, and supervising the implementation process. Furthermore, you will be responsible for:
  • Planning and implementing the technical deliverables in the device development projects covered by the Mechanical Engineering and Modelling and Simulation team, and establishing an efficient execution set-up for projects, and driving continuous improvement and process optimisations in the department
  • Platform Strategy for the Physical product
  • Appointing domain leads (Technical leaders) who are responsible for planning, managing, and executing the technical delivers within the Mechanical Domain to the device development projects
  • Ensuring the Mechanical Design Robustness process is maintained, improved, and utilised by the different development projects
  • Guaranteeing a technical support structure, composed by people (experts, domain lead, domain expert) and processes, are in place to support the projects regarding technical decisions and guidance
  • Budget and resource allocation of the department to support progress of the device portfolio
  • This is a unique opportunity to engage with international cross-functional stakeholders, including internal and external consultants, suppliers, affiliates, and production facilities around the world; and contribute to shaping the strategic direction and successful execution of relevant projects with the Device & Delivery Solutions Portfolio. You will be part of the Device Systems Engineering CVP leadership team. Qualifications To thrive and succeed, we expect you to have:
  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • 8 years experience in mechanical engineering for product development or design, preferably within the life science or another highly regulated industry
  • Minimum 3 years of line management responsibility, leading through leaders, and with demonstrable ability to drive continuous improvement and change management
  • Proven track record translating strategy into actionable execution
  • Strong project management toolbox, ideally with understating of some frameworks such as Agile, SaFe, Stage-gate-model, PMP/Prince2
  • Engineering innovation and development frameworks such as Technology Readiness Level, Technology to Product, Requirements Engineering, Robustness Design, V-model would be a great asset but not a pre-requisite

About the department Mechanical Engineering, Modelling & Simulation team is the mechanical engineering part of a matrix org, and has the accountability for the mechanical design in all Device projects across the portfolio for various Therapeutic areas. In Delivery System Engineering we ensure an interdisciplinary approach to enable the realization of successful 5D solutions. Considering both the business and the technical needs of all customers, we drive the engineering and scientific rigor to ensure our products reliably meets the user needs. While we partner to ensure the integration of all the disciplines and specialty groups from concept to production, we are comprised of the following technical domain areas: Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Embedded SW (Connected devices, and Project Management.
