The position As Primary Packaging Developer, your main responsibility will be to drive the development of appropriate primary packaging solutions for Novo Nordisk's medical drug product projects. You will collaborate closely with colleagues in Drug and Device Development, Production, and Supply Chain to ensure compliance with requirements. The department handles diverse tasks, delivering to all parts of Novo Nordisk, presenting a variety of challenges. Therefore, strong collaboration with your colleagues is an essential key to success. Your main responsibilities include:
  • Developing primary packaging systems, such as blister packaging or pill bottles for tablets, from the ideation phase to drug product launch.
  • Documenting the design requirements, safety risk management and mitigations, testing, and documentation of these; enabling us to submit Clinical Trial Applications.
  • Ensuring suitable design, material, technical performance, processability, and new supply chains of the packaging systems.
  • Scouting the market and meeting with suppliers to identify and refine packaging solutions.
  • Coordinating your own workstream with stakeholders and delivering on time.
    • Qualifications To succeed in this role, we expect you to:
  • Hold a MSc/BSc degree in Engineering or another relevant field within the Natural Sciences.
  • Have at least 2 years of experience with primary packaging for pharmaceuticals, food, or medical devices.
  • Possess knowledge of packaging materials such as aluminum, polymers, etc.
  • Be fluent in written and spoken English.
    • Additionally, the following skills will be advantageous:
  • Expertise in Container Closure Systems for pharmaceutical use and foils for blister packaging for tablets, including blister layout design.
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical/physical drug stability, with a special focus on material/drug interaction, as well as proficiency in Risk management, Risk mitigations, Supplier negotiation, and the development of strategic partnerships.

About the department You'll be joining the Primary Packaging Development Department, which is part of Devices and Delivery Solutions. This business unit is a part of the global Development organization. Our location is in Hillerød, just outside of the greater Copenhagen area. Devices and Delivery Solutions has the mandate and responsibility to innovate and develop the most innovative delivery solutions for the entire portfolio of Novo Nordisk’s pharmaceutical products. The unit is comprised of project management, engineering, and technical functions spanning across all competences required to deliver on a diverse portfolio of drug/combination products and device projects. You will be part of an organisation of highly skilled people – maybe the best in the industry. You will join a new, growing, and dynamic department consisting of two teams.
