The position
As our new colleague, you will join the process control modelling where we focus on improving the stability and control of our bio-chemical processes. Through this role, you will have a great opportunity to play a part in shaping the future of our manufacturing facility, in close collaboration with similar teams in research and manufacturing in Novo Nordisk.
Your three main focuses or responsibilities are included, but not limited to: Developing hybrid models to be able to represent the dynamics of the current system Designing new control structures or tuning existing controllers to achieve process stability Gaining advanced process understanding of a given system/process section by studying the dynamics from the production data and quantifying the current state performance Since the nature of the job is student-based, we will make sure that you will have the opportunity to learn how to develop and apply R&D-based concepts into real-world application, using knowledge that you have, and will gain, from an academic degree. You will gain experience in working in a global company, and manufacturing environment and learn first-hand how data can be utilized with the current trend of Industry 4.0. You are an MSc Student who is currently studying within the field of Chemical Engineering and/or Mathematical Modelling at a Danish university and your focus area of study is Process Control, Modelling, Optimization, and/or Data analysis. (NOTE: Applications from electrical engineers are most welcome if your focus is on process dynamics control and would like to apply this to biochemical processes).

You will be a part of the Novo Nordisk Insulin production, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (PS API), and assigned to Manufacturing 1 (M1), the world’s largest Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) manufacturing facility located in Kalundborg with fermentation, recovery, purification and utilities production under the same roof.
You will be employed in M1 Bioprocess Improvement-Optimization (M1BIO), a group of 8 highly skilled colleagues plus MSc students all working with advanced mathematical modelling for bioprocess improvement and optimization. We follow the multiscale modelling approach for problem-solving and we have activities in Applied Mathematical Modelling, Mechanistic Modelling, Process Control Modelling, Capacity Modelling, and Supply Chain Optimization Modelling.
