Maersk Oil Trading (MOT) acts as the sourcing arm for Maersk in terms of supply, storage, purchase and delivery of fuel for vessels. Maersk is the key customer (80%), and, in 2021, MOT handled 11m MT of total fuel purchases. With fuel being amongst the main operating cost of Maersk's vessels operating expenses, MOT focuses on optimizing along various channels, including blending, tolling, and barging. We are a mixture of talented and passionate professionals, traders, and industry experts.

Maersk Oil Trading consists of around 100 employees located in a handful of offices around the world - from New York and Singapore to Rotterdam, Geneva and Copenhagen.

As a student assistant in MOT, you will work in a culturally diverse and stimulating environment, surrounded by innovative ideas and people with focus on continuous improvements and support for our business in delivering strategic projects. You will be imbedded in a high pace working environment, characterized by high performance and result focused delivery. Daily you will interact with colleagues across the globe and across all functions. You will be part of our European Operations department that have the responsibility of all bunker deliveries to all Maersk Vessels

Key responsibilities

  • Help with different administrative tasks around operations, data entry and documentation control
  • Make sure to help control inventory on different locations and make sure we are always reconciling
  • Help to control OPEX costs
  • Taking part of monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing activities
  • Help to standardize templates and way of working
  • Analyze data related to operations and establish how effective our different processes are
  • Ad-hoc projects

We are looking for

  • Our ideal candidate is an ambitious student who is in the final year of a relevant bachelor’s degree or beginning of a master’s degree
  • You study within Shipping, Logistics or Business Administration
  • You are a resilient team player, flexible and professional
  • You can prioritize and organize your workload and take pride in delivering quality work on time
  • You are skilled in Microsoft Office especially excel and some IT technically understanding is considered a plus
  • Working hours will on average be 15-20 hours/week
  • Fluent English both in written and verbally
