About the position and the assignments

Danish Red Cross is looking for a new colleague with a strong interest in and experience from working with localisation, preferably with knowledge of the Red Cross Movement. The Cooperation Advisor will support DRC’s approach to localisation through active and strategic engagement with key Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) partners, and in Danish and international networks more widely. The Cooperation Advisor will drive processes to ensure systematic deliverance and documentation on DRC’s main priorities for localisation, which are defined in DRC’s strategies and RCRC Movement partnerships on national society development. Not least, the position will support the operationalisation of the localisation approach at country level. The position is part of DRC’s Strategy and Localisation Team, which develops guidance and oversees and supports the operationalisation of DRC’s International Strategy when it comes to localisation including national society development, cooperation modalities and community engagement. Each team member has a main technical area of responsibility and will also more generally contribute to ensure a well-coordinated DRC approach to localisation.


Your main responsibilities will be to:


  • Drive the process to ensure systematic and quality documentation on the deliverables of all DRC priorities related to localisation and national society development and contribute to the development of strategic guidance, position papers and formats.
  • Drive and coordinate the implementation and roll-out of DRC’s global thematic agreement on Branch Development with International Committee of the Red Cross.
  • Coordinate DRC’s RCRC Movement-wide support to branch development in fragile contexts via the International Federation of the Red Cross Red Crescent (IFRC).
  • Be DRC’s representative to the Movement National Society Development Advisors group.
  • Engage with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and IFRC to support the co-convenorship of the Grand Bargain workstream on localisation.
  • Liaise with other Danish civil society actors on localisation.
  • Support other European or global processes focusing on the localisation agenda.

Your profileWe are looking for a professional with at least five years of international experience with humanitarian and development organisations. You are fully on top of the localisation agenda, principles and modalities to apply in supporting localisation. You have strong facilitation, negotiation and engagement skills as well as Initiative and capacity to drive processes. You have experience with development and management of partnerships, preferably from the RCRC Movement.

You have excellent English language skills. Danish, French and/ or Arabic proficiency is considered an asset. You are a good communicator and a team player, and have a structured, systematic way of working and meeting deadlines. The position requires flexibility and ability to take lead and independently drive processes and agendas. You are available for field missions including in emergency response contexts. It is expected to have up to 8 weeks of travel.

The position is an open-ended full-time position - 37 working hours per week. Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with Danish Red Cross’s collective bargaining agreement with HK and AC with a salary level between DKK 43,500 – 49,300 depending on experience and qualifications, including allowances and pension. The position is placed at the Danish Red Cross Head Quarter on Blegdamsvej 27 in Copenhagen.
