About the job

It is essential that in all our work we uphold the highest standard of conduct and safeguarding standards for the communities where we work, our staff, interns, volunteers and contractors, partners, and other stakeholders. We have a duty of care to protect anyone who comes to contact with our work, particularly our vulnerable groups of beneficiaries.

The Danish Refugee Council has a Code of Conduct (CoC) since 2007, and a Code of Conduct Reporting Mechanism (CoCRM) for International Operations since 2012. Together, they form a cornerstone of DRC’s commitment to accountability and integrity.

The Global Code of Conduct Investigator will join a team of 4 persons in HQ and support the CoCRM setup in regions and countries. The Global Code of Conduct specialist will contribute to the development, promotion and roll out of policy to promote a culture which has a zero tolerance to fraud, corruption and safeguarding. They will ensure complainants/survivors listened to, supported and protected from further harm, and ensure all code of conduct cases are investigated timely in line with DRC agreed practice.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Investigate allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse primarily, as well as allegations of fraud and corruption.
  • Produce high-quality reports on investigation to managers at all levels (country, region or HQ).
  • Provide advice and guidance on sexual exploitation and abuse allegations in the frame of administrative investigation taking into consideration the potential risks to personal safety for those involved.
  • Support countries and regions during complex administrative investigations to ensure quality investigation and reporting to DRC management and donors.
  • Provide mentorship to DRC country and regional teams of investigators and review Investigation reports and provide necessary guidance to investigators to ensure that investigation protocols are performed to a high standard and consistently.
  • Participate in the design and development of training materials, and deliver training, to create awareness for staff, Interns, partner organizations on DRC CoC and PSEA policies.
  • Deliver training to DRC CoC staff in countries and regions regarding DRC CoC policy and CoCRM.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to:

  • Master’s Degree in social science, human resources law, criminal law, human right, gender or gender-based violence, international affairs.
  • Demonstrate experience with code of conduct or similar in a large, global organization, influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
  • Demonstrate experience in developing and delivering successful training sessions, facilitating meetings
  • Familiar with Safeguarding and PSEA standards, including an ability to apply a survivor-centered approach in relating with survivors of SH and SEA and in handling SEA and SH allegations, and an understanding of the international context in which this issue impacts DRC.
  • Commitment to upholding and modelling DRC’s values and Code of Conduct
  • Demonstrating integrity, diplomacy, professionalism, reliability and resilience at all times.
  • Able to work professionally and with a high degree of confidentiality at all times.
  • Have highly developed critical analysis and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to quickly build personal rapport and trust.
  • Have interpersonal and intercultural skills and a strong ability to collaborate and network
  • CHS Alliance certificate on PSEA workplace investigations and any fraud/corruption investigations certificate is a plus.
  • Have good oral and written communication skills in English is mandatory. Additional good oral and written communication skills in French, Danish, Spanish or Arabic is an advantage.
  • Strong computer skills, facility with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, OneDrive and email software.

We offer

Contract length: Permanent contract. Please note that you need to have or be able to obtain the right to work in Denmark (through nationality or existing work visa) in order to be considered for this role.

Workplace: Borgergade 10, Copenhagen

Start date: as soon as possible

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and AC at “fuldmægtig” level. This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply.
