The primary focus of the Customer Experience teams in Maersk will be to drive business outcomes for our customers and for Maersk. The role is responsible for the global processes, tools and applications related to the Customer Experience function.

The Functional Product Owner is a senior Customer Experience role that has responsibility for the commercial development of new products through needs identification, value proposition development, and delivery of the capability.

The purpose of the role is to service our customers with greater accessibility and efficiency, in order to lift the Customer Experience.

Key responsibilities


Accountable for guiding the success of customer experience products and directing the cross-functional team that is responsible for improving it. It is an important organizational role that sets the strategy, roadmap, and feature definition for customer experience products.

The accountability includes:

• Define, create, and implement global processes for customer experience capabilities incl operational standards, policies and performance metrics.
• Lead and develop strategic direction for customer service, enhancing digitization and automation journey.
• Lead functional product ideation, development and launch through developing of and delivering on business cases, realizing the benefits for system developments and enhancements – across platforms.
• Lead and deliver epics for tech development to platform product owner. Coordinate with business product owner as needed.
• Collaborate with business product teams to design and define the operability of new products and take part in new product development.
• Sign off the developed functionalities for release to customer service function, customers and external parties.
• Lead and own the development of training material for all operational platforms – existing and future – incl creation/maintenance of documentation and knowledge sharing portals
• Govern the process to ensure it meets required quality and compliance standards.

We are looking for


You have a relevant degree (MBA preferred) combined with at least 6+ years of experience in a job in the shipping and logistics industry.
You have demonstrated success developing excellent products.

Furthermore, the ideal candidate has:

• Strong technical acumen to grasp different technologies and tools for their application and relevance to operational purposes.
• The ability to learn and work in an agile framework with multiple stakeholders in a dynamic application development environment.
• Excellent communication, networking, interpersonal and influencing skills to communicate and command respect at all levels. Ability to effectively communicate in diverse technical, cultural, and language environment.
• Strategically astute to connect detailed operational concepts to what value they drive both for the company and its customers for long term benefits.
• Strong ability to relate the operational processes with practical implications to customers and operational teams, thereby making a balanced judgement.
• The ability to develop compelling business cases for improvements and get buy-in from senior stakeholders for execution.
• Excellent project management skills to drive multiple global projects at same time and ensuring a full closure to agreed outcome.
• Ability to effectively work in a remote environment with multiple stakeholders and team members across the globe and in different time zones.
• Having worked in various geographies and/or having managed a scope spanning across multiple countries is considered a plus.
