Digitalization of early scientific research data capture
The early research organization within Novo Nordisk is currently undergoing a digital transformation, which is spearheaded by the Department of Research Applications. We are part of the Computational Research function area, where we are responsible for providing scientific IT solutions to support the global research organization at Novo Nordisk. This includes solutions for sample- and result registration, analysis and visualization of scientific data. We bridge the gap between life science and information technology by designing, implementing and operating scientific research applications that are essential for our global research and development efforts.
The position
You will be part of a large scientific IT program anchored in the early research organization aiming to establish a modern and data-science oriented scientific application landscape. As the program is operating in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), you as a ‘Scientific IT Product Owner’ will lead the track for implementation and future operation of a new Sample Management System based on a commercial framework product but specifically configured for the needs of Novo Nordisk. This system will be used for the registration of biopharmaceutical samples like peptides, proteins, antibodies, cell lines and small molecules.
Your team consist of a Scrum Master, a delivery team, and Agile Coaches who will help you in your daily work. You will get full responsibility for the Sample Management System, so we expect you to have a deep sense of ownership, strong focus on user needs, an agile mindset and that you are self-motivated in terms of ongoing learning and taking calculated risks.
You will work closely with our skilled group of scientists and domain experts from areas like biology, chemistry, protein expression and animal pharmacology but also with external consultants and software vendors.
Your responsibilities in detail will be to:
1.Drive the implementation of a new Sample Management System through your knowledge of both life science and IT.
2.Proactively manage external consultants and vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery of enhancements and configurations of the new Sample Management System.
3.Understand the needs of our research organization in relation to sample management and translate these into tangible IT requirement for vendors and consultants.
4.Ensure alignment amongst vendors, consultants and in-house developers in addition to alignment with other tracks of our Scientific IT Applications program.
5.Lead all future day-to-day operations, maintenance and activities, including workflows, automation and scientific IT system integrations related to sample management.
Qualifications
Preferably, you hold a Doctorate or Master’s degree in scientific disciplines such as biology, chemistry or pharmacology with 6 or more years of experience with sample management combined with solid experience in leading implementation of commercial IT solutions in a scientific environment.
Working experience with automated sample management, liquid handling, freezer management, data handling and research informatics is essential.
We expect you to know and understand drug discovery processes and that you have a strong interest in solving scientific and technical IT challenges in a large and dynamic research environment.
Experience with stakeholder management to ensure that the delivered solutions enable our research colleagues to achieve their goals and support the future needs of research and development within Novo Nordisk.
In addition, experience with commercial sample management systems like Titian Mosaic, Scigilian Store or Scilligence Inventory would be highly favorable.
