Strategic Category Manager - Direct Strategic Procurement

You will be part of a department that consists of 7 Category Managers and 2 Sourcing Managers. We will give you the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping strategies related to further developing and optimizing our transducer category and global supply chain - dealing with stakeholders throughout our R&D, Operations and New Product Introduction (NPI) functions.
Your professional development is important for us, and you will find opportunities to continuously grow and develop your skillset in the Global Supply Chain Organisation at Demant. You will be given real tasks and responsibilities with high exposure from day one.
Your role as Category Manager
The position as Category Manager offers you a unique opportunity to develop your personal and professional skills. We will lead you through a journey from the moment you arrive, and your colleagues and mentors will provide you with a broad understanding of our business. Furthermore, you will get a great network of people across functions and vendors in the transducer category.
You will be working closely with our R&D, NPI, Operational Purchasing, Supplier Quality Management, and Product Support functions, together with our strategic product supply base. Your primary tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Category Management, by setting Demant’s supplier base strategic direction and overseeing its deployment, across challenging and performance critical component areas of our industry leading Hearing Aid and Accessory products
- Contract management and negotiation
- Management and implementation of supplier-based innovation and developments to meet Demant’s ever increasing product performance challenges
- Change Management and implementation throughout the Demant organisation, regarding supply chain innovation
- Category and supply chain optimization, in support of delivering the Demant group vision, strategy, and targets
Finally, you should expect 30-40 travel days per year, with the majority of our strategic suppliers are located in Asia, Americas and across continental Europe.
To find your way around, managers and former category managers will partner up with you to support you and make sure that you learn everything there is to learn about the transducer category.
Your business area
During your time in Direct Strategic Procurement you will explore the company and develop your personal and professional skills. You will take on projects that involve internal stakeholder management and communication with our suppliers.
Our activities In Global Operations range from planning, sourcing, through to NPI, manufacturing, distribution and aftersales. Our footprint spans across the globe - from Australia to Poland, Denmark, US and Mexico just to mention a few key operations geographies.
Opportunities are plentiful and so are the challenges. You will have the chance to work independently, driving all elements of strategy and implementation within your category.
Your profile
You have probably graduated no more than two or three years ago, with a relevant master’s degree in relevant M.Sc. within engineering, e.g. Supply Chain, production and manufacturing or similar. We are looking for a candidate that can successfully combine technical and business acumen and with one foot solidly planted in the traditional supply-chain disciplines.
