You will be a part of Corporate Strategy, a function in VIKING that works with several strategic disciplines. That involves facilitating the corporate strategy process, supporting business development activities, providing an overview of projects, and supporting the acquisition process. Additionally, the function works as internal consultants in the VIKING group. You will join a small, dedicated, and an energetic team of colleagues, which has a high-level responsibility, exposure, and focus from top management.

The position

As Strategy Manager, you will spend the majority of your work time heading internal VIKING consultancy jobs. It is a global job, where you will work in teams solving tasks, with a member of group management as a sponsor. In this function, you will provide balanced, objective, enterprise-level advice to relevant stakeholders, and spearhead the analytical process, to make sure recommendations are valid. Examples of projects could be strategies for specific product groups, go-to-market strategies, value chain analysis, or segmentation.

You will also be a part of the task force working with the Corporate strategy process, including identifying and assessing attractive future growth opportunities and potential risks to the business. The outcome of this is to define the strategic options that determine VIKING’s future direction.

In this job, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with senior stakeholders, gain insights into the business, and become a trusted partner to group management, and the line of business. You will need outstanding communication skills to discuss business in clear and simple terms, and you must be capable of challenging, interacting, and negotiating with upper management on strategic issues. You must also possess analytical skills to make sure decisions are based on data and facts, to the maximum extent possible.

While this position does not have direct people management responsibilities, the leadership of projects through influence and developing followership is critical. The team structure will provide many opportunities for informal leadership through project working groups, mentoring, and sparring, and you will be involved in identifying and developing talent within the team.

The position will report directly to VP, Strategy & Digital.

Your profile

You have an educational background in business, economics, strategy, or similar, at a master's degree level. In the best case, you have +5 years of experience in working with strategy development, either from consultancy, venture/investments setting, or from a corporate strategy function.

As a person, you are recognized for your strategic mindset and strong analytical and stakeholder management skills. You have a track record for handling projects in a global context, on behalf of senior management. You have excellent communication skills, ability to set the agenda and maintain an overview under pressure.

You will interact with a multitude of functions across the global organization, and be in regular contact with Group Management, thus you should be capable of, and comfortable with, working and interacting at all organizational levels. You thrive in a busy global environment, bring a can-do attitude, and maintain a sense of humor, even when the workload is high.

You are ambitious, have attention to detail, and deliver high-quality results at a pace. You are a team player, and value winning together, but can also work independently. You have excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills. You are success orientated and change-ready, you are professional and work with integrity and an enterprise mindset.

This position will include up to 40 international travel days a year.
