Personal Assistant/Carer in Sunny Southeast of England, nr. Brighton UK

An opportunity to come and visit England whilst working as a personal assistant. I am an active man who loves life, injured by a road accident (work spinal injury). I use a sports wheel-chair. I have a paralysis (no ability to move) from the chest down and consequently require assistance in most aspects of daily living.

I employ a team of two full time people plus holiday fill-in’s to assist me, to live and work independently in and from my own home. I look now to employ somebody to replace a member of the current team that is moving forward.

Ideally, I am looking for the new somebody to come and work with me for between 10 and 12 months min. This person needs to be in good condition, happy, honest, have reasonable communication skills.

Also be reliable whilst having a good sense of fun, be a non-smoker and enjoy living with a light minded smile. License not essential.

The work involves personal care tasks, typically (getting up and going to bed, washing, dressing, muscle and skin care). There are also domestic duties in and around my home and assistance with my work and social activities including driving my adapted vehicle although I can drive.

This job does not require previous experience but a positive, happy attitude. The wish to learn and try is important I think. Training is available in all areas including familiarization with driving.

New people work alongside my existing PA/friends as it is important for good chemistry and to learn my routine.

HOURS OF WORK

The hours of work are approximately 0-48 hours per week spread over seven days with two days of work and then two off and two days on sometimes three on and three off flexi time (equivalent) per week. The hours are scheduled on a Rota and typically organized to be a flexi 48 hours on duty and 48 hours off duty flexi with time paid at the training rates for this period of days or week.

The arrangement of working with one other full time assistant can be most rewarding in terms of developmental employment in the private sector.

The job is full time as a “key worker”, working with my other full time employee and community liaison team for support. This forms a complete 7 day a week cover with some sleep in nights at my home and also when away from home, working or vacation. Duties are flexible in terms of time management.

MY HOME

I live with my support hound in an adapted bungalow. Also I work from home as a charity organizer. Part of the job is to help me at work, some travel, attending meetings, assistance with office work, going to theatre, cinema, restaurants, DK, Europe, London etc.

I study and work in education workshops, shooting club, music, photography, drama, creative art production and Histories. My parents are far enough away to say hello occasionally but alive still and my brothers are great with their different interests. Also it is the same way for my Danish family and friends. My friends are important and of all types.

SALARY AND ACCOMMODATION

Gross pay is 445.88 weekly and each person has their own bedroom in a shared house. This is a 3 bed room house close to the town with central heating, shower, washing machine, TV and video, ict and internet etc. There is use of WIFI, a bicycle provided and a mobile phone. The accommodation is offered at £43 a week slatage and in addition to the gross pay.

Holiday pay is offered equivalent to 2.3 paid week per year after 6 months worked. If you are offered and accept the employment then there is a 12 week “trial period” during which either of us can decide not to proceed with the contract. This is to offer protection and give confidence to both of us.

WHAT ELSE?

Gun Wharf Keys with great shopping and meeting places for young applicants after night life on days off, pubs, cinema, sports/swimming pool, shops usual coastal, transport, theatres. There is a railway station 20mins away by bus which gives an opportunity to explore. Or a bus is one minute away.

We are close to Portsmouth’s beautiful country side history and traditions like nowhere else in UK AND one hour away from Bournemouth and Brighton the coolest city outside London. It is known as Little London by the sea The county town of Arundel is 15 minutes away by train and a centre for many activities and drinking activities of a classical nature.

Hampshire is in the Southeast of England, about 20 kilometer’s east of the Guildford and Surrey landscapes. London.
